Friendly, patient and capable staff, make kids feel comfortable. Seen lots of improvement as our child has taken Level 1 and 2 swim courses. Great facility
we love the swimming lessons at the north austin Y. it's a beautiful facility, the instructors are really great, and we love that the pool is inside so classes aren't cancelled because of bad weather.
Your instructors are amazing! We love Ms. Laura! Very impressed with the quality of the swimming lessons. Everyone at the Y is so friendly and professional.
Mainly I like swimming
Love the pool
I like how clean and uncrowded the facilities are. I like your group exercise classes and I wish you had more.
I love how so many things are geared towards the community and for families of all ages! I absolutely love the Farmer’s Market on Saturday and have found out about so many family-friendly events in town from the Y’s resources!
Convenient location & variety of programs.
i like the location and the cleanliness of the facility.
Love the yin yoga classes.
It is a clean and modern facility. It has natural light which is motivating to exercise. I would like to address your senior fitness programs in particular. I am in Senior Sneakers. I have recently enrolled in two classes, which I can already see, will improve my health. They are Wednesday Boomer Muscle, and Thursday sneaker classic. Both are taught by Barbara F.
She is a very knowledgeable and motivating instructor. Although I am fairly young, 63:
I had a stroke 8 years ago and have neurological damage. These classes are helping with strength and balance. Matter of fact, I expressed to the instructor that the Thursday class reminded me of physical therapy classes I have gone which cost my insurance company $175 an hour. (That was for 1:1) Now my insurance company, Humana is paying for my Y membership because they want me to be healthy.
Regarding the Senior Fitness program as a whole, I have a few suggestions. Older people often have concerns about driving, so they don’t go out as much. This is bad for emotional and physical health. Driving in traffic is more intimidating. I will not go to the morning Water Aerobics because of that. It takes me 30+ minutes to go 10 miles and the traffic is very aggressive.
You would have more senior participants if the classes were between 10am and 3pm. Another suggestion I have is something the Town Lake Y does. They have a ‘social’ on Friday where a there is a single or duet band. Often they are older people. People sit around for about 15 minutes and may talk. There is a snack bar area. It is a another way to combat social isolation.
To let you know, I am so pleased with the quality of instruction by Barbara, I am going to recommend her classes to my neurologist, Dr. Morledge when I see him in a few weeks.
Thanks, for asking. - Carol Morter
The instructors are very welcoming and the programs are very helpful for each individual's growth for their health.
Friendly staff, modern equipment that is well maintained, comfortable facilities. Great pool. Lots of programs I haven’t yet been able to try. I enjoyed the challenge last year.
Diverse offerings. Diverse staff and participants.
Good schedule for a variety of people.
I like how affordable the programs are. This also contributes to how inclusive they are, children from various communities and backgrounds can play and learn from each other.

I love water aerobics on Thursday mornings, and all the lap pool availability. I also love being able to workout on the roof and play basketball.
Give me a lot of help about my swimming.
Give my son a lot of help about the summer camp.
Thank you!
we just started the swim lessons and they have been so great! love that it's very organized and that it's an indoor pool is very helpful so no cancellations because of weather. i would like to hear a little bit more from our kiddo's instructor how the class went but can tell he's learning lots and having fun as well. thanks!
Have attended Zumba classes and pool exercises. Also, used some machines. I go during the morning hours. I have enjoyed everything. With the exception of the showers (moldy), everything is always very clean.
I really enjoy the yoga and yogilates classes. The instructors are wonderful. I also like the open and friendly atmosphere that the employees at the front desk foster. I am always greeted with respect and spirit.
I like the feeling of belonging that I get while I'm at the Y - from fellow participants, instructors, and staff.
I mainly come to the Y currently to lap swim at the pool. I absolutely love that the pool and locker rooms are always clean, but the most important part is the comfort and safety I feel using the facilities. I’ve tried swimming at multiple gyms at the past and have had uncomfortable experiences with men (I’m 26 and a woman for context), but at the North Austin YMCA I’ve only ever had great interactions with kind and friendly people. I never worry or feel unsafe coming onto the campus, and I think a lot of that comes from the staff + the level of respect that the members have for one another. Not specifically related to this question about programs and activities, but I’ve yet to mention this to anyone at the North Austin YMCA and always tell me friends about it when encouraging them to join. Thank y’all for everything and giving me a safe space!
I like the variety of classes and the community engagement you get at the YMCA! There are people of all ages, ethnicities, religions, sizes and shapes. It’s truly a place where all people are welcome to come together and better themselves. Whether it’s through exercise classes or literacy programs. The YMCA is the definition of civic engagement!
Good facility, friendly staff

Cost is good and good teachers as well and friendly
