I like there are different activities each day of the week for the kids. My son gets excited for field trip and swim days at camp.
There is a lot going on at this place! So far I've enjoyed the pool, weight machines and treadmill. Most everything is pretty straight forward and the only "hiccup" I experienced was yesterday when I sat at a weight machine and suddenly noticed a large water container (same color as workout machine, so kind of hidden) at the foot of the machine. Turns out someone was using THREE machines at the same time.
Aside from the occasional rude person (I've seen some people not wiping down machines afterward use) this "multiple-machine user" has been the only takeaway from the place. Being run the way it is, I really don't expect people to not follow through with these basic formalities but obviously no matter where we are, there are people who need a little more guidance in order to properly interact with one another.
Focusing on the programs and activities, I like how so many programs and activities are offered. Even guitar lessons are on the list (seasonally) and no matter what time we arrive, there is *always* something going on AND there is *always* some good workout equipment available, even if one person is taking up three machines at a time without actually being at the machines at those times. I haven't used my membership at any other location but I am looking forward to it even though I believe the Potranco location has EVERYTHING I could want, including an indoor pool!
The May’s Family YMCA at Potranco is my kids’ favorite YMCA because of the indoor Gaga ball, as well as all of the active gym games they play there. A lot of the other locations just have toys and games, but nothing active for the kids, so I really appreciate this particular location so much!!

The coach was great and engaging with the kids. My son had a really great time!
The staff members were the reason my kids looked forward to going. They enjoyed the activities but loved the staff more.

I love that they have a camp for kids that is all day and is reasonably priced. The kids seem engaged and they are able to make friends.

The YMCA summer camp program 2024 has been a great experience for us. My kids are motivated and happy to attend every day. They love their camp counselors and say they are having a fun time there. All the counselors have been very professional, nice and have upbeat personalities. Thank you to all the staff that have made this memorable summer experience for our children.
My daughter liked the variety of activities, outdoors and indoors and the games & crafts. The staff is friendly and flexible.
My daughter was really excited to keep going back the next day! The activities were child centered, snacks and games were great!
My granddaughter really enjoyed herself and gets along well with all of the staff members. They become like a little family for the duration of her day. She enjoys all the activities that are provided and wants to continue to come until she ages out.
The instructors were amazing! Great with my kids and listened to our swim goals and made our kiddos feel excited to swim and be in the water. Thank you.
I like the private adult swim lessons at the YMCA. I believe it's for age 14 and up. It was perfect for my 16-yr-old autistic nonverbal son. The instructor, Addi, right from the start was a joy, very willing, and very patient. My son loved going. Thank you.
The instructor Christian was fantastic! My son felt so comfortable with him and he learned so much so quickly! I feel very confident in my sons skills acquired in these lessons and so does my son!

My granddaughter loves going to the summer camp at YMCA. She has made a lot of friends and is always excited to be there. The staff is friendly and great with the kids. Very convenient location as well.
My niece really enjoyed her lessons and spoke very highly of her swim instructor.

The amount of locations the ymca has in SA, TX. I like the staff, they seem to enjoy their job which is super important! This is our third summer here and I plan on bringing my kids back!
