Client Testimonials
The instructors are very caring and engaged and the studio space is lovely.
JPs class was beyond special. Can't wait to go back for more.
pros - There are some excellent instructors at Ahimsa. The approach is mindful, informed and non-dogmatic. The environment is friendly and open. It's a lovely space.
cons- The schedule of classes is fairly limited. On weekdays, a lot of core classes happen in the middle of the day when many people would not be able to attend them. There are less classes offered in the evening/night. I would like to see more Ahimsa and Vinyasa style classes offered more often on the schedule throughout the week. It couldn't hurt to consider a regular 8:30 or 9 pm class.
Additionally, some of the substitute instructors who fill in vacancies don't seem to fit as well with the atmosphere of the studio. The regular teachers have a following; people gravitate to their classes specifically. Some of the subs just don't measure up.
Great community feel. Great teachers.
Excellent instruction beautiful calm space
The community, the spirituality, the integration of teachings that are bigger than asana with good asana instruction.
I like the variety of teachers and types of classes offered.
I love the attention that is paid to both the spiritual and physical side of the practice at Ahimsa. I also find that this is the only studio I've been where there is attention truly paid to the integrity of each pose; more about growing and building strength, vs. getting to the final pose, but doing it incorrectly / potentially hurting yourself. Most teachers do adjustments too, which is so helpful. I appreciate it when teachers add in some thoughts, or "lessons" in the class, and this happens very frequently at Ahimsa. I've never lived in the Annex, but have always practiced with you guys whenever I can! Now that I'm out of country, I still make sure to pop in whenever I'm in town. Thank you for being such an amazing studio!
I like the variety of the class types/instructor styles. But I wish there were more class times offered, especially on the weekends.

Lots of adjustments, skilled teachers, spiritual but not too spiritual, lots of alignment cues, skilled teachers plan varied and interesting classes
I took the restorative class Wed night with Philippe. It was exactly what I needed - downtime. Grateful that it is offered. I found the poses inventive and allowed for some nice openings in the body. Philippe has a warm, friendly personality. He spoke just enough to relay information to help us settle into the poses. I would definitely return. - First name removed
The instructors are the best. They always come with a fresh idea - they are very inclusive of age and ability - there is a dramaturgy to the classes that makes every session physically, emotionally and spiritually satisfying. Also fantastic adjustments.
They are very good classes, high quality of instructors and challenging to people that have practice yoga for years too.
I am a regular - devoted, in fact - attendee of Shawna and Jaime's classes. Both are calm, confident teachers who always know exactly where they're taking you over the course of a class. Classes have a clear beginning, middle, end and overall intention. Shawna also always has some spiritual wisdom to impart and she's never saccharine about it.
Open windows! Great teachers who besides being enthusiastic and skilled, are unique - follow their own program.
I love the themed classes it really helps staying engaged Througt the practice. Also, it gives you something to think about while out of class as well. Love that spiritually is part of some of the classes it helps lift the spirit. Great studio. Thank you ❤
Nice instructors, karma classes (I'm a student, I can't afford yoga normally)
I find the staff inclusive, relaxed and great!
The instructors are so well trained Nd the environment is so welcoming
Great teachers, especially Elke!
Amazing teachers who offer challenging classes and great adjustments to improve your practise.
Great instructors, great schedule (lots of classes offered each day to suit busy schedules), very friendly, welcoming, non-intimidating vibe and excellent location (3 min. walk from my place)! I feel very lucky to have such a wonderful studio nearby!!!
I like the community space. I also really like the teachers, they are really well trained and know what they're doing!
Same as last survey I completed. Good timing, location, teachers and clean and airy.
I love the feeling of community and welcoming you receive as soon as you walk through the door. My body instantly relaxes just being in the space. All the teachers are knowledgeable and passionate about their teachings. You can see it in their way they carry themselves and the wisdom and insights they share. Ahimsa first. I always feel safe in the space and in my body and have permission to practice in a way that feels healthy and beneficial to my well being. It is a high vibe commmunity filled with love and gratitude. Yoga is a way of being. Not a pose. This community gets that. Lives that. And is committed to the bigger picture of global compassion and service. Huge hearted community. I love my Ahimsa tribe.
I like that the classes are more than just stretching. There is an element of bringing more awareness and love into your life, which is really important and great.
Phillipe is amazing! I love how inspiring his intros are. He really reminds people to stay true to themselves and to not compare themselves to others. He pushes people to challenge themselves in the calmest way possible too, with great technique!
Caring, unpretentious and gray instruction!
