I like how gymnastics classes and the pool area ARE VERY CLEAN!! Too often I have gone to places and been afraid to touch the ground in bare feet! I also like how everything is very easy to schedule.

I actually tried to give a rating of 8, but it wouldn't let me.
I like that you have a good amount of space. Compared to the Upper Main Line YMCA, the West Chester Area YMCA has more areas where I can do pull-ups, deadlifts, kettlebells, mobility/stretching, etc. The cost is also less, but overall the cost is still significant. Also, the cost for the summer pools in addition to our monthly membership is surprising and just not realistic for us and probably for many others.

Whether I would recommend this or any YMCA would depend on each person's situation and budget. Even though I like having access to some things at the YMCA that I don't have at my house (such as deadlift and squat equipment), I could get by fine without them and save a lot of money by doing other exercises at home. I really only have a membership because my wife likes exercising outside of the house and I want to support her.

One overall thing that I'm surprised I don't see, but would like to, is a continuation of the founding principles of the YMCA. In particular, the founding of the YMCA, and the catalyst behind all the good the YMCA has done over the years, was based on "improving of the spiritual condition" of those they served, specifically through Christian discipleship and social ministry fueled by the love of Christ. Based on that being the reason the YMCA was created, I expected there would be some opportunities for Christian discipleship and principles in YMCA programs now. If they are available, I haven't come across them yet. I also hope that the YMCA in its current form is reaching out to less affluent individuals as well. Thank you for your time.

When I enter the YMCA I feel the presence of the wider West Chester community represented in terms of ages, culture and racial diversity. In the classes I participate in, I find companionship both with fellow participants and with staff. Just entering the doorway of the building brings a kind greeting and immediate help with information. The benefit of working toward a healthier body, mind and spirit is the big boost I need!

I have just registered to get started with e-work program I meet for my orientation tomorrow and looking forward to it. Mark was very friendly and helpful in providing me information about the program. .

Easy to access wide variety of choices

There are so many different activities for different ages and recreations for all. The staff is courteous and pleasant. Such a nice place to visit.

My wife and I enjoy the gym a lot. Nice equipment to choose from for a variety of fitness needs. The indoor track is also a good place to warm up.

Hours of operation

We enjoy the EGYM system to get a full workout in a short time. We appreciate the assistance of the staff to keep us on track to do the exercises correctly. The walking track is a great addition to our workout. All of the equipment is in good shape and is kept clean. You can tell people who come to the Y are happy to be there, it’s a great overall experience.
