Member Testimonials
The friendly desk staff, clean facility, lots of classes and they are included in the monthly fee, fun instructors, so many exercise equipment options, and the social activities offered to active older adults.
Good facilities. Staff helpful, but could be friendlier. Additionally, it would be nice to reinforce through new/clear signage that the track has a reserved lane for runners. Too many slow walkers use that lane which creates safety issues.
Nice, clean facility. Good variety of classes. Friendly reception staff.
I love the variety of classes and levels of activities. Kerrie and Kelly are fun and knowledgeable.
Welcoming, friendly and motivating instructors and staff. Classes are very engaging and there's something for everyone. I have gotten to know a lot of people at the YMCA who have become close friends. It's a great place!
It's always very clean, and the ladies that are at the front desk, especially in the mornings, are the nicest people. They remember my name and are very friendly...just what you need when facing an hour of intense exercise.
The water classes and pool for swimming.
Very nice facility. Staff friendly and helpful.
Equipment in good shape. Ever machine that I have wanted to use is working properly.
Kids zone is always friendly and clean! Staff is well-trained and great with the kids. My kids love it there. A variety of classes are available, love the walking track on the second floor. Work out machines are always working and there is always something available. I wish there was more of the thigh abductors available, those seem to be popular.
I like the services provided by the Y. In the last half year, I started a cardio and a stretch class and find it helpful. I had thought these were fee-based classes but glad to find they were free.
Good instructors
Excellent instructors!
The people who work and teach there are very pleasant. The classes are great and they make it more fun than exercise and they keep you motivated
The support for the new program that surrounds those folks with Parkinson’s
Class variety, and schedules, cleanliness, and the community
The Platte County Community Center South has such a great variety of activities, programs and equipment that it is easy to find the fitness activity you will love, that keeps you coming back, and keeps you healthy. Add to the fact that it is clean, safe, and filled with helpful staff that want to ensure a positive experience, it has all the elements that promotes a healthier life. Kudos to the Platte County Community Center South!
I recently had the opportunity to swim at this location over the past week. Communications of "no open swim" times continues to be a concern to those that swim daily. Even though"open swim" times are published on the handouts at the Y, swim lessons take place right in the middle of the "open swim" times. This unpublished / unannounced event closes down the scheduled "open swim" time.
Life guards are MUCH better than in previous months. Although this week, I had to ask a lifeguard to at least look at us every once in awhile while swimming. My main concern was very young kids playing in the deep end of the lap lanes. The guard was more concerned with getting his daily walk in around the pool. I observed and he never once looked at the pool during his watch. I litterally had to ask him to observe us and the children. He ignored my request!
I still do not understand why the Y continues "nationwide" on the COVID schedule of shutting the pool down for three hours a day in the middle of the day? If management can't find a solution to not enough applicants for lifeguard; then understand that is a management problem! If this was NOT a "not-for-profit" business, how would the Y stay in business? Oddly enough, as a person who purchased failing businesses and turned them around for his entire career, I applied for a management position with the Y. My application was ignored and I was later told the Y was looking for applicants from the LGBT community. Perhaps we should consider applicants that bring experience to the job versus filling the positions from a specific demographic. Enough said about that.
All that said.... I still fully believe the direction of the new Aquatics manager continues to provide GREAT IMPROVEMENTS to this specific job at this specific Y location. I can only assume more changes have not been made because certain decisions may be out of his control. I emphasize though.... I believe the new Aquatics manager continues to do a very good job. KUDOS
Friendly people
I like all the equipment and the fact exercise groups. The staff is friendly and helpful. I enjoy the coffee shop conversations.
Great equipment, however I have noticed a considerable decrease in enforcing cleanliness standards. This includes reducing the number of cleaning stations and little oversight on guests cleaning their equipment.
Staff tend to group behind the entry counter rather than walking through the facility.
Great programs of course.
It's close by.
Clean, comfortable, great workout options.
Steam room and sauna are great and a lot of the equipment is new!
Great place
Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I like the Volleyball activity, as well as the hot tub and diving boards in addition to the pool. Equipment works okay, too in the weight room.
The people and facility is fabulous.
The instructors are really good; people are very friendly
Love the classes
