Member Testimonials
Nice , everything is good.
It's literally "hometown" friendly no matter if you're local or visiting from another Y. The "Live Strong" program for cancer survivors, in which I participated, was like having my own personal trainer and support group. I felt the instructor, Sharon Bullock, (a survivor herself, as well as a certified trainer) was engaged with each of the participants. She familiarized us with the various workout machines and encouraged us toward "realistic goals", while being aware of any physical limitations (healthwise) we might have. The members of the group were very supportive of one another and encouraging rather than competitive. Since the class, I'm using the Y more often and spreading the word to others of the positive benefits of working a visit into a daily routine. I'm still not a "daily visitor" yet, but definitely a more frequent one. I'm very grateful to have such a nice Y in my small town! Jane Schuele, Atchison
Variety of activities available, most of staff is friendly and trained.
Atmosphere. Friendly people. Helpful
Our group at water aerobics has become family. All the employees are friendly and willing to help. I look forward to spending time at the Y each week.
Our morning water exercise class is a terrific way to start the day. I try not to miss for two reasons: my body misses the exercise and oh! how I miss the people in the class! Great staff and lots of smiles at our YMCA!
Employees are always helpful and friendly. We never have any issues and always feel welcome as we walk in the door.
Very clean with a super nice staff. From the front door to the site mgr. Everyone has great energy and manners. My daughter loves the pool and I love the weights. Awesome cardio area and the basketball courts are a big hit. Aerobics and spin classes have modern upbeat music and equipment. Couldn't ask for more. But I do want a dip station! Lol
Nice people all ages.

Wish the locker rooms were cleaner and more needed repairs are completed
I love that’s it’s clean and has a little bit of everything for everyone of all ages!
A very friendly welcome. Clean and quiet. Has what I'm looking for in the way of track and equipment.
we are very lucky to have this Y in our area
Staff is efficient and friendly. The personal trainer appears to train people in an efficient and effective way, which I don't always see in other gyms. Facility is small but adequate. Clean.
Friendly staff and clean facilities!
The Atchison YMCA has been great to use to get back into a fitness routine! Love it because I live out of town and I can get ready for work there, such a blessing!
The staff is amazing.. The lifeguards r awesome..
I have a choice of several activities for keeping myself healthy
Most of the employees love their job and are eager to help the members
The Y keeps the therapy pool clean and provides lifeguards for the hospital physical therapy program.

Friendly and helpful staff
Pool , all the options for exercise
Friendly atmosphere
My favorite activity is water aerobics because of the exercise and time the class is offered.
Walking in the pool keeps me mobile. Covid shut the pool and I needed physical therapy to walk again after the Y opened the pool. Been a member for at least 20 years.
the family and friends that I meet
All
I have been coming to water aerobics for a number of years. Being in the water is the best exercise around.
The pool so I can exercise without the pain of my arthritis. Able to put my stuff in a locker with my own lock until I’m done for the day. Available weights and stuff to help maximize my exercises while in the water. Classes that offer water therapy so I can meet people who enjoy the same stuff I do.
