Lack of good teachers at various times makes finding a desirable class difficult. I used to love 745pm yin class and that’s the best time with a baby to get to class, but now there is only one 745pm class on offer each week so no options with regards to the teacher. Best teachers only in the morning.
less overbooking
Lovely community!
Teachers are friendly
Environment + Attentive, friendly staff
Teachers and classes!
Schedule, teachers, environment
Great vibe, lovely instructors 🤩
I come for Vee’s Pilates classes!
Bring back 6am classes
Great location, great studio and fantastic teachers!!
The schedule at Surry Hills is quite different from what it used to be. Our old favorites like Ari, Sarah, Kat etc have no or few classes
Kat was very helpful and friendly - made me feel right at home
The website and app are incredibly frustrating, the user experience is not up to the level needed for a business that size. Often I can’t book classes, when I can I have to go on different pages and then app crashes. The old system was so much more efficient- I don’t know why it changed.
Lots of different classes
Beautiful, clean studios... best reformer classes I've ever taken in my life all thanks to your instructors! Great props and love the machines you use.
The studio is quite noisy and most of the teachers seem to leave the balcony door and windows open (probably for ventilation). I appreciate we are supposed to let the yoga lead us and not be distracted by external noise, however it is difficult to ignore. Also, many people do not seem to respect the studio etiquette (phones, speaking etc) and spacing guidance (the markers for the mats), which makes social distancing a little challenging at times.
Of course, the staff and teachers are great.
two showers in mens have been out of action for many months.
most of the male teachers no longer on roster
It was a great experience. Mandy’s Saturday class is always fun and great way to start the weekend
Easier to use App and more classes at the popular times so bookings can be made less than a week in advance
The majority of the instructors are excellent. For me, what makes a good instructor is someone who is aware of the clients - their strengths and weakness - and is encouraging and clear in giving instructions, with progressions that aren't phrased to discourage or belittle beginners.
The timetable is good, but more options to attend after work would be appreciated - I note that timetabled 6 pm classes are cancelled - as well as Saturday and Sunday late afternoon or early evening. My work arrangements are flexible, but I hesitate to recommend the studio to friends who are largely back in the office and find 5.30 pm classes difficult and 6.30 pm too late. I do appreciate the financial situations after lockdowns and understand that you might still be building towards a fuller timetable.
The change rooms and studios are always clean and the desk staff very welcoming and friendly. I appreciate the COVID safe requirements.
As you can see, I have written about what I like and what could be improved. In future surveys, you might consider asking what could be improved. I hope my suggestions are constructive.
The studio is absolutely beautiful and extremely clean. The teachers are friendly and approachable.
If I’ve ever had any issues with booking classes for example, the staff have always responded immediately to my emails and have tried to rectify any issues promptly.
Life happens and if people need to cancel in the 2 hour window I do not think you should charge if a person on the waitlist or waiting at the studio takes the spot.
If the spot does not go then charge them. Most people book with the best intentions.
Otherwise people don’t cancel and the teachers are not clear on available spot to offer others keen to join.
Beautiful studios great instructors easy to book class
Great classes
The new booking system is really wearing thin. I have started going in and booking my classes for the next week in person because it’s embarrassing to have to email about it so often. Can we just go back to the old version until the bugs are fixed please?
Great teachers.
Lots of classes.
My partner and I have been subscribers since mid 2020, doing Pilates, 4-5 times a week in Surry Hills. Love the place, love Pilates. Unfortunately a fair few of our favourite instructors have gone and now we only attend 3 times a week. If there would be more instructors of the same ilk as Vera, Vee, Chrisen, Mardi, Robyn, Christie, Mateja and Aneta, with more early morning classes to choose from, I would definitely rate the studio higher. As it stands, 3 times a week for $62 just about cuts it. The instructors make the place and if they are aloof, disinterested or barely audible, they definitely don't.
The website change has made it harder to have an overview as well, so definitely a downgrade there too. No longer can I choose to filter by Pilates, rather I have to choose between align and flow classes. And I can only see one day at a time, no longer a whole week in view. For most of us who have time slots they want to work out in, we want to see both options. I'd rather go to an align class than not at all, for example. Then once you book, you have to start over again, picking a day and trawling through to see who is teaching and when.
Thank you for asking for feedback, as this has been on our minds for some time now.
Teachers- great energy, my highlights are Norma, Tash and Christian!
Also wonderful friendly front desk staff- Pia and Joel.

Understand that it has been a difficult few years as I too run a business. But, I have been very disappointed with BML in recent months. Some feedback …
- Frequency of class cancellations at Surry Hills.
- Not enough class options.
- Not enough Yin classes.
- Back office/administration/website function needs improvement.
- Premises in Surry Hills - not the most conducive: pillars blocking view of instructors; noise of chatter in hallways; change rooms too crowded at times; no waiting area for students who make the effort to arrive early. I do understand that you’re still in the process of settling in and hope to see some improvements soon.
I prepaid for an annual membership and don’t think I’m getting the value for money nor the quality of experience I’ve received from Body Mind Life as I have in the past (I’ve been a member for at least 5 or 6 years). Disappointed that not much has been done to compensate people who have annual memberships that were paid in advance. Understand that it’s not possible to provide a refund but even an extension of their membership by a few of weeks would have been better than nothing. As I understand it, people who practice at Surry Hills who pay fortnightly were compensated for their inconvenience with a reduced rate.
