Food is expertly prepared and delicious! The selection of wines is quite strong as well.

The only reasons I am giving La Tavola a "9" rather than a "10" are (a) the beer and cocktail selection is limited compared to the wine selection, and (b) I don't think the dishes are quite as creative as those of other restaurants in the area. However, these are very mild critiques.

In fact, of these critiques, I think it's fine to ignore my complaint about cocktails (leave that to other places that specialize in it). The beer selection should be relatively easy to improve by just expanding the bottle selection (there are lots of good local and regional options!). But it's possible and understandable that, for "style" reasons, you might not want to have more beer options.

Regarding "creativity" of the menu, I'm not sure how to suggest that it could be more innovative. I have had specials at La Tavola that were very good. Some places in town where I feel the menus are a teeny bit more "off-the-beaten-path" are BoccaLupo (particularly their off-menu fare), Staplehouse, and Cakes and Ale. Again, don't get me wrong -- I think the dishes available at La Tavola are done carefully and spectacularly! I have never had a bad meal there. It's just that if someone came to me and said they were looking for something really different and unique, I'm not sure La Tavola would be at the top of my list. (Though, again, I would still highly recommend it!!!)

We had great service, with our server wishing my mom and godmother Happy Mother's Day. Also, while we were the last to leave (at least inside), we weren't rushed at all. The food was delicious as well. My mom had the Veal Saltambocca, my aunt the lasagna, my boyfriend the tagliatelle and I had the squid ink spaghetti (with extra space as requested). Everyone really enjoyed their evening. Thanks for providing a wonderful end to Mother's Day!
