The people are all nice; the staff is outstanding. Always ready to help. Know their stuff.
The Y is great!!! I love the saunas and the weight room and all the great programs..Everyone is courteous and effecient...Great place!!!
not overly crowded as some other facilities
Offers a variety of exercise classes. Love the instructors, Barb Ohmer and Curtis. Really enjoy the many openings per day available for pickleball play.
So many activities. Friendly, helpful employees.
I have silver sneakers. I totally enjoy small pool.
As soon as you walk in, the person at the front desk greets you which making you feel welcome and want to stay. The addition of more cleaning people have made the place clean and once again make me feel welcome because it shows you care, show professionalism and commitment to members. During the winter, the lot is ALWAYS plowed leading to all the positive described above.
So, onto the gyn equipment - Glenwood YMCA had plenty of equipment (both free weight & machines), the new treadmills upstairs were a strong PLUS along with the stationary bike & the step master machines which allow members to get a wide variety of exercises in if the place is busy or NOT.
Lastly, a very big plus was the expansion of hours the Glenwood YMCA is open and never really closing for what was called "Summer Cleaning'". I fully understand the hours may have been adjusted far in the past but it needs to be brought up that it is a very BIG plus allowing people to exercise very early in the morning OR late into the evening which was not always the case.
I love going to the YMCA. Debra from Silver Sneakers is great. Like the exercise machines. I don't like the level of difficulty encountered with getting to the lap pool. (have to watch for a step down or up when getting there.) For me, getting in and especially getting out of the pool was quite difficult as well as embarrassing- finally got out and rolled. Thank you and hope to get there more frequently in the near future.
Awesome classes and very nice facility
The warm pool for my mom and I to walk and do our physical therapy exercises.
I always get a friendly greeting as I enter the building! I participate in the warm pool water aerobics classes and appreciate that the life guards are walking around and not just sitting in their chairs. I also like the gathering space where we can have coffee or tea and chat. (The coffee area could be monitored more frequently.)
Many local high school students are looking for a safe place to gather. I fondly remember going to Y-co with friends.
yoga class
The family pool is the reason I come to the Y. The lifeguards are wonderful.
The reason I didn't give the Y a 10 is because the women's locker room is filthy. The edges of the floors have built up crud almost an inch wide in places
Great teachers, many class choices and diversity in members and staff.
Exercise.and gather with friends after.
Pool and camaraderie on the gym floo
Water aerobics. Meeting with friends
Easy checkin. Lots of equipment. Handy bathrooms.. new equipment too.
Staff are very friendly & helpful. Variety of options for participation. Pool is great - nice & warm & clean. Appreciate the staff there for safety. Love to see everyone chatting & interacting. I believe seniors know this is a great way to connect. Thank you for everything you do.
I love Silver Sneakers with Curtis
Great classes. And the socialization
I enjoyed to soak myself in the clean and nice hot water with the whirlpool. YMCA provided soap/shampoo that give me convince whenever I forgot to bring it for a hot showering. I can ignore some of the dispensers which are not working right a lot of time. The front desk got complaining about it so often. The YMCA on West 38 St. and Cheery St. is the best GYM in town, according to my immature experience. Long life YMCA!
Has a good variety of activities and programs. I like the warm pool especially.

The water aerobics helps keep me mobile
