Member Testimonials
This is his first experience with YMCA basketball. It has been great so far, and he says he wants to play again next season. The schedule has been convenient, the rules have been appropriate for the age group without overly complicated, and the coach has been engaged and great with the kids.
The coaches are really great. My son is learning basketball skills, playing as a team, strategy, etc. First time playing and he's really enjoying it as a beginner.
Good workout equipment, clean dressing rooms and facility
Many different equipment
Cleanness
Very nice and friendly staff
The activities & classes geared to older adults.
Cell phone ignorance:
One prominent issue with many members is the rude habit of so many members locked on to their cell phones while sitting on some of the most widely used pieces of equipment. There are a few who will sit for as much as five to ten minutes, locked onto, mesmerized by their social media messages, sending messages.
Cell phone ignorance: Part II An ongoing irritation for so many members.
No matter how management 'massages' this YMCA 'social injustice' to the great majority and more thoughtful, caring members, it continues to reflect a marked timidness and cowardliness on the part of Wake County YMCA management. The summary attitude 'seems to be': "We do not want to be unpleasant,'.... or confrontational, in any way," this ongoing, wimpy attitude - reflecting a cowardly deference to rude members. I think it is shameful and shows overwhelming disrespect that great majority of members who are thoughtful and caring of others time. Enforce your own rules, dear hearts of management!
How to solve the problem? It is very, VERY SIMPLE, BUT, it does take courage for the Y management to enforce its rules: A single sign addressing ONLY cell phones (no other message, none). 'CELL PHONES: Show courtesy to others. Do not monopolize equipment While addressing your phone." Make a BOLD STATEMENT. Why should a 'thoughtless minority' be allowed to consistently ignore the rules, We are a country of rules and laws. The Wake County YMCA should enforce its rules. Show some courage and be mindful of
of those who RESPECT and follow the rules. Ken Humphrey, Phone number removed Use my name if desired. We 'used to be a country, a society of Law and Rules that were respected. What has changed, lads and lassies of management?
Good instructors,friendly people
All the people there are very nice and the machines to work out on are very good
All good
Good facilities and exercise classes.
Excellent staff and facilities. Only improvement to note is that the TVs at the treadmills aren't working well... 5 of the 8 either don't show anything or they have some message covering part of the screen.
I love seeing my friends and making new friends at the YMCA!
Love the instructors and the huge variety of classes for all levels of skill.
The friendships I have developed at the Y are the best benefit besides trying to keep up a healthy lifestyle because of the workout programs available .
I love the YMCA and grew up at the YMCA as a kid. Great place and great people.
The instructors are very passionate and experienced in all the classes I have attended.
There are many opportunities to meet new people and develop friendships. Volunteering is a big part of the ymca and also plenty of opportunities there as well if you desire to help. I can’t praise the YMCA enough!
1. Lots of exercise classes at no additional cost above membership fee
2. Friendly and welcoming staff
I use the indoor and outdoor pools regularly. I also enjoy the yin yoga, Pilates and Thrive classes.
Great staff and equipment up dated and they keep things running. Both steam room and sauna works.
The cleanliness of the environment, the coffee and the great staff especially Aaron and Trish and Rob. They are very personable and it has become a community for us as we moved here two years ago and wanted something more than just going to any gymn. The YMCA in our previous home was a place of friendship and although we miss it we have been so pleased to meet new friends here at AE.
Always nice and clean, super nice staff and lots of fun activities!
Love the group classes and all the instructors! Such a warm, friendly environment.
The staff and all the ladies at the front desk are so friendly
A lot of different classes and equipment.
The facility, the staff, and the sense of fellowship I have with the other members.
We love the Y for working out, swim lessons, outdoor pool in summer, day camp, family camp, Camp Seafarer, Leaders Club, community events, all the things!
Friendly staff, great peer group in workout area, the availability of occasional pickleball. The pool is too cold for me but I like that it exists should i be extremely motivated for it. Its extremely rare but there was a social mingle conducive event about a year ago. It was great to meet others who also workout afternoons. Some of the treadmills have cable TV program connections that do connect-this makes it. From about 1-3pm the wait for the hamstring and hip machines are usually 0 to only 10 min and this time works great for me. Other machines don't usually have much wait at all.
People in general and open activities when I want them excellent y- to organized for the people and membership could do a spicing up??for the same price
I love the programs at the YMCA, the Facility is fantastic, the pools and their programs so good - but also the staff at A.E. Finley YMCA are superb- knowledgeable, friendly, very helpful and the instructors are amazing. I go 4 or 5 times a week most weeks.
Thank you - thank you

There is practice on a different day from the game.
