For the Windward Oahu senior community the Y provides activities that meet individual health goals. The gym, pool and classes offer a good variety of fitness options to meet individual needs and provides opportunities for socializing and networking. Plus the friendly and helpful staff make the Y a great place to be.

Members are friendly and helpful. They help to set up a spot for late arrivals and help others to clear out.
Instructors are knowledgeable, allow us to do what we can. The instructors also work out in other classes.
The staff always welcomes us as we step into the Y and say good bye when we leave. They know our names!

Everything....
except the women, mostly women, who talk constantly during the pool classes. It is rude and distracting to the instructor and to the other participants in the class. Some of them keep their back turned to the instructor during the entire class. These classes are wonderful, the instructors work very hard and it is an insult to them for these women not to participate. Additionally, they are taking a slot away from others who might really want the exercise and access to the classes as they are very popular.
Socialization and talking to each other is clearly an important and pleasurable activity, but it is not appropriate in this exercise setting and is rude behavior, the very opposite of the values the Y supports.
The location and staff are super friendly and always helpful.
