Personnel who work at the Nuuanu YMCA are the main reason I’d recommend to a friend, join the Y.
It promotes family and all variety, good and troubled, therein.. ThTs your niche. Stick with it.
The facility is well maintained and rooms that are not scheduled for classes are open to individual/group members for exercise. It is truly a community facility for all members.

Laid back friendly atmosphere
Nuuanu YMCA is a part of my life.....although your records do not go back that far......I was a member of the Central YMCA on Atkinson since 1955 throughout my intermediate, high school and UH days through 1964. After returning to Hawaii in 1967 having served in the military, I continued my membership at Central YMCA playing handball 3 times a week. In 1969 when Central Y closed for renovations, I transferred to Nuuanu YMCA. I have been there ever since playing handball 3 times a week until 2010. I no longer play handball, but have continued my same 3 times a week exercise routine at Nuuanu Y doing cardio work on the elliptical machines and then stretching and jumping rope in the handball courts and finish my workout on the rowing machine and then in the weight room. So all told, as of EOY 2023, I have been a continuous member of Nuuanu for 54 years (1969 through 2023). So yes, I would recommend others to join Nuuanu YMCA.

My daughter and I are always welcomed there. I like the diversity of people I meet there. Classes are terrific and fun, and there is a great range of them.
There’s an excellent range of exercise classes and self-led options. Teachers are enjoyable and knowledgeable. I also really like the changes in the lobby, making it more inviting to stay and chat with other members.
Good value for our family. Sufficient machines and free weights to get a good workout.

I like variety of classes. I wish there was bootcamp. I signed up $50 for hip hop class. First formal session was jazz. I had expected
Hip hop but teacher was excellent. Next class was hip hop and we had awesome teacher.
The bill said $50 through Dec 26 so that was 2 classes. Next time I won’t sigh up for extra classes. I expected 4 hip hop classes for $50.
Oh well the facility has so many other options that there is plenty to do besides special classes. The teachers and staff are very helpful and welcoming. I really like Nuuanu branch. I’m greatful for YMCA.
