Member Testimonials
I've only been there once (member of the former Menomonie Health and Fitness) but I was impressed by the variety and quality of equipment. Friendly atmosphere, lots going on in the middle of the week. I'll be back!
I like the facilities, especially the pool, weight rooms and cardio rooms.
I love so many things that the YMCA offers, however, the downtown location is sorely lacking and available cardio machines, and other exercise related equipment and comparison to the other facilities
Everyone is so welcoming and friendly.
Tuesday and Thursday classes with Lori.
flexible hours, variety of activities, friendly staff
There are so many programs and activities to choose from and convenient times during the day/evening to participate in the programs.
The variety of options and support. I think the community gathering room has also encouraged social networking.
Zumba and dance teachers and classes. Foam roll class.
The strength, flexibility and balance class is awesome….my PT said my core is stronger and my pelvic floor is in place….so very thankful for Laurie, she’s a great instructor ❤️
Our 3 year old daughter's swim instructors were amazing! They were energetic, enthusiastic, and made her feel comfortable.
The variety of classes and programs
We've really loved having swimming lessons at the Downtown YMCA due to the small pool. Our children have had swimming lessons other places and they were not excited about it due to the pool temperature. However - they've looked forward to going to their swimming lessons in the smaller kids pool partly because of the warm temperature. Having swim instructors who are excited about swimming and fun to play with really goes a long way too. We've been so pleased with our experience and will continue to seek out lessons there.
The variety, the instructors and the participants. Classes become like a second family. I like the variety of work out machines that are available as well. I would like the weights in the exercise room to be less chaotic but very pleased with the assortment that is there now.
I love the Y! Both of my small kids recently participated in swim lessons. Instructors were fun and attentive and taught them tangible skills to help them improve their comfort level in the water in just the spring session. This is our second time taking lessons at the Y, and we’ll be back.
very inclusive. Good variety for all ages and levels of fitness
The Toddler aquatic instructors are so amazingly patient and great with the kids!
Teachers were amazing
Really like the assortment of programs and activities.
Would like some new additions to the weight rooms downtown. Is there a way to get a push/pull sled or something similar that people could use.
Really like the new electronic sign boards downtown. Perhaps you could add pictures and information about all the great classes and programs you have on there (in addition to sponsors), so when parents are waiting in that area, they can see it or when members are walking by, they can see them as well.
Susan continues to be the top.
I appreciate that the cardio equipment is first come first serve.
The Health and Fitness class that I attend on 10:am-11:am on M-W-F is excellent. The participants are very friendly and social. The Chair-Standing Yoga class on Mondays is also very good. I highly recommend both classes.. They are classes where all are welcome. I would not be as healthy today if it were not for the "Y" and Abby Van. I am so thankful
The instructors are so great! My son loved being in James’s LTS level 4 class.
Kind instructors and a fun experience!
Swimming lessons were a great experience! We took lessons last summer with Parks & Rec & were not impressed- this was a much more positive experience. The instructors were organized & connected well with our kids. Our kids learned new skills & had a lot of fun & looked forward to each lesson. We will definitely use the YMCA for lessons in the future!
I had three children involved in different levels with Miss Hazel during the spring swim session. My youngest was very against entering the pool and joining his group - Not because of a fear of the water, but because it was a new and different experience for him. Miss Hazel did a wonderful job helping him become comfortable with the class without diminishing the needs of other students. 3 lessons in, he was loving it! My older two learned so much and are now more confident with certain skills. We’re looking forward to continuing lessons with the YMCA.
His swim instructors were great.
Classes are fun and energizing!
Great community resource. There always many people using the facility at all times of the day.
Love the staff and facilities!! Only suggestions would be to fix the sauna door and expand the sauna. Also, if there is someway to make a way directly from the locker room to the sauna versus having to go through the pool deck that would be cool too

The facility is good and things seem to be in running order most often.I am not a fan of sharing a locker room with children. It can be loud and water through out.
