Member Testimonials
Friendly staff, good equipment and programs, excellent instructors/trainers
The people, the abundance of activities for all ages and cleanliness of the facility.
I love the people and variety of classes and equipment.
I love pickleball, but do think we are crowded and a smaller YMCA with many members who pay dues. I would love funding to go to building a gym with 6+ designated pickleball courts.
I have gotten acquainted with so many interesting people and look forward to visiting with them at Silver Sneakers during the week as well as keeping up my exercises.
Friendly.. helpful staff

The location, the price and what the Y stands for
Our coaches are soo sweet, the teams are well planned out. Only request. Please get small enough jerseys for little little kids. Xxs is still wayyy to big for most 4/5/6 year olds.
Great facility and helpful people

Easy to check in and lots of equipment
It is a great facility with mostly nice workers.
I have been doing water aerobics for 25 years and know it shortens my time off when I have a medical problem.
Lots of great equipment. The pool is wonderful. I have not taken any classes but they look fun and are always full! Even though they are very busy I do not have to wait for the equipment I want. It is clean and very popular.
My husband and I have been members at this Y for many years now since his retirement in 2016. We enjoy using Lynley twice a week as our personal trainer and she has helped me tremendously in my recovery from my second knee replacement last September 2023. She is extremely knowledgeable and I totally trust her advise on what exercises can help me recover and rebuild my strength.
Thank you.

I only work out when there are classes. I love that there are multiple choices for me to take.
I enjoy the water fitness classes very much. The facility is great and the people very friendly.
For the most part, the people that greet you at the front desk are friendly. The machines and other equipment are up to date and easy to use. There is space to do stretching and 95% of the time the machines I like to use are available.
They are very welcoming, love my class and instructor (zumba) the place has good energy, love the workout rooms.
The community involvement, atmosphere, people, offerings, gym … everything!
Very nice facility! Large, clean, well-kept with lots of options. I especially like the variety of classes.
I really like the Muscle & Movement class & wish it was offered more than twice. The one on Friday is too early for me, so I can only do it once a week. And it is a very popular class, as the room is quite full - even at 10-15 min early, it was challenging to find a spot. (The first time I went to the class & arrived close to start time, I almost couldn’t find a spot, & the lady nearest me refused to move up much - she basically indicated I needed to get out of her way.
Also, there are lots of senior ladies who come to your Y who, like me, probably went to Jazzercise back in the day & would love to see that offered…there are still Jazzercise instructors in the Scottsdale area (including less than 10 min from the Y), but either they’re only early in the morning, or the next closest location is kinda far from my house & requires driving thru heavy afternoon traffic. Perhaps the instructor who teaches Jazzercise at the location close to the Y might consider offering a late morning or early afternoon class at your location.
The staff is very helpful and the facility is rarely closed.
Love the classes!
Hands down it is the staff. Unfortunately, I do not know all of their names. I wish I did because I have not met a single staff member who was not professional, friendly and very helpful. Here are a few of the staff whose names I do know: Front desk: Kathy (Cathy) … the others are great too though!. Administrative staff: Chris. Trainers: Shannon, Debbie, Elisha, Janet. However, there are other trainers I have viewed from afar and they too really get into it and encourage their class members to do what they feel comfortable doing. I have been exercising for about 50 years in various gyms over the years. Desert Hills YMCA is the most friendly and professional that I have encountered. For most folks, I assume, exercising is a “should” versus an activity one cannot wait to do multiple times a week. At this YMCA though I think most, if not all, of us who take advantage of the classes which are offered genuinely look forward to participating. That is saying a lot. Terry
Clean, friendly and good equipment. I recommend more recliner bikes to accommodate seniors
