Friendly Staff & Clean Facility
Clean, friendly staff
I have spoken with visitors from other YMCAs about their facility they are quick to mention downfalls of their own facilities. Everyone I have talked with loves the Wolverine YMCA. They love the pool. They love the space of the workout areas, the cleanliness and the people.
The Y has been such a great community of encouraging people. Doing a class or lifting with familiar faces around has been so motivating and makes working out fun. I love that there are people of all ages putting in the work together. The instructors are great and always have a challenge ready. I so appreciate their knowledge and their consistency in showing up on the daily to help us all be healthy.
Kid Zone employees here have been the best. So sweet with our kiddos over the years. I never have to worry about them while I’m working out and can focus on my time while my kids are well loved on.

I love the Wolverine Y!! The facility is well cared for and the staff are very knowledgeable and friendly!
But I'm wondering if there is a way to ensure parking spots for members during youth sports season? Perhaps you implement a limited number of spectators for each child. It's frustrating, as a long-time member, to experience this ongoing issue!

I am a big fan of the Y. I lost 65 pounds going to a Y in Los Angeles before moving to Grand Rapids to be close to me grandkids. The Wolverine Y is a family friendly place with great facilities, equipment and amenities. If I could change three things they would be:
1.) Return of towel service to make showering and cleaning up easier.
2.) It is very distracting to be on a bike, elliptical, or weight machine and hearing the person next to me blabbering away on their cell phone. Other Ys and gyms have a "no cell phone"
policy, so should the Wolverine Y.
3.) It is also very annoying to see a group of 2 or more people tying up a weight machine upstairs during busy periods. they can easily tie up a machine for 5-15 minutes. There should be more "Allow others to work in" signs. Also lots of people use machines without wiping them down. Need more and bigger signs!!!!
The ladies in the pool are friends and family. Many of us are widows and this is the only time we are outside of our homes and the only time we communication with anyone. For me it's my extended family and I've become close to so many of the members and crew. We even see and have get together outside of the ymca. We help each other's with not only rides, deliveries or meals if needed. And most importantly we pray for each other over sickness, surgeries, deaths and travel. This has become the center of my activities. As I've heard no other ymca is like this .

Great staff! Clean, organized, and we love the pool and hot tub! The classes are nice as well. All around great club. One thing I would see making a huge improvement on is installing saunas! Over at the Cascade location when we lived over there had separate saunas in each locker room. It was fantastic. That would be the only addition I can think of that would improve this gym.
I enjoy the beginner yoga class, and the new treadmills are awesome!
Thank you for bringing the 3rd bike, I enjoy the comfort of these bikes.

Very friendly people. Love the walking track. Nice and clean. My only complaint is that the machines need updating. Some of them are really beat up.

The instructors are amazing! My son was in lessons for 3 years on and off and still wouldn't go under water. After a few weeks and switching to this location he's almost fully swimming.
We love the swim classes. The family changing room are great for washing off the chlorine. It's so nice to go home with clean kids.
The people. Especially Eric. He greats us individually upon arrival and leaving. Don't know if I can share what I don't like. Saturday mornings are way to loud and people park on the grass on the entrance parallel to the road. Only one car can come in or go out because of the parking. Swimming pool is still too crowded for water exercises. I quit going because of this.
