Member Testimonials
Clean and friendly environment. The exercise equipment is state of the art, and maintained very well. Overall a very pleasant place to exercise.
Friendly staff and fellow members.
Exercise equipment is excellent.
New machines and increased training facilities. Way better than before!
Well maintained too. Excellent leadership.
The aqua clasess
I think the kindest people in the world work here!
I love the Y. The people are wonderful and the atmosphere is inviting.
What I don't like:
I think that the early morning, (6-:45 and 8:00 water aerobics class instruction is very weak.
I really liked the open clinics for pickle ball rather than having to sign up for a series of 10.... I have an injury and would like to try coming back to kickball, but the 10 week commitment isn't feasible, since I don't know if I will be able to play
Friendly and welcoming staff all the time. Great pool facilities and locker rooms. Great hours.
I appreciate the role the Y plays in the Montclair community and its importance to the well being of so many people in the Essex area.
I like the new equipment and the facilities like the steam room, sauna, and pool options.
Geyer Y is a clean, organized, friendly and safe environment for kids. Our Grandaughter attended preschool there and still participates in classes and swimming. Great resource!
The space is now much bigger with different equipment in each room. The addition of the hammer machines in the weight room are great. Love that there is a sauna in the locker room.
I love the Y
Use of the small pool and excellent water temperature. All the staff is great.
The sauna!
I wish it was a bigger place to accommodate more people comfortably. Alternatively I would love to see some enforcement of the rule that says no more than two people at the time, and keep it quiet.
Also Tai Chi with Pamela Leo is fantastic, but more options regarding scheduling will be better.
Other than that, it will be nice to have discounted rates and more clase available for seniors ( chair yoga is always booked when i try to make a reservation).
I enjoy the facilities and particularly my yoga classes. The staff is friendly and supportive. Most importantly the Y has a commitment to reaching out to the community and its most vulnerable members and I appreciate that.
I enjoy senior strength and balance classes Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
I love the friendly connections I've made at the Y and starting my day in the pool and locker room. I'm very glad that Khay is back teaching yoga on Sundays and I also really love Rose as a yoga teacher. Thank you for bringing her in and providing a really strong beginner yoga program on Sundays again.
One concern I have is with the steam room. Apparently it breaks the steam room in the women's locker room to spray the sensor with cold water, but if you just activate the steam room using the dial, it does not get very steamy or stay hot. Most people want the steam room to be hot, especially because the sauna is set at a medium temperature. Is it possible to set the steam room sensor at a higher temperature so that it stays hotter when activated using the dial? And then to post information about this so the steam room is less likely to be broken? This would be much appreciated. It would also be great if you could fix the tiling in the steam room.
Thanks! First name removed
First and foremost, the staff is wonderful!
Everyone seems to be willing to assist in any way possible.
I like that my daughter is learning new things that she may not learn in class by doing fun experiments. I also like that Zumba classes are offered, and that the kids seem to get plenty of free play with developmental toys.
Reasonable pricing for pool, classes, and gym access. Membership is cross honored by other YMCAs when traveling. Options for family memberships to include spouse and children.
The Y is not just a gym, it is a community!
I would like to see more variety of classes ie missing belly dancing! And maybe more acquatic classes at different times of day
I like the variety of ways to exercise at the Park Street Y.
Great place to go to work out and take classes
I highly recommend it
So far it's great. So many activities to do - cardio and muscle machines of course, but also group classes, racket sports, the pools, and sauna/steam are great.
Great staff, good programs, supports our community
Social, weight and balancing classes, times available to workout, sand friendly staff.
Convenient location, fully equipped.
EVERYTHING
The classes and the instructors.
I enjoy the Y, it's very welcoming, has terrific senior classes during the day, extensive weight training for all levels. What is missing is Back to Abs classes during the morning timeframe. Since Teresa V left last year, this has been a gaping hole for daytime classes at the Y. I do hope you find someone to lead Back to Abs during the morning slots. Teresa was a rare find who was knowledgable, enthusiastic, engaging and supportive.
I like the size of the facility and the fact that I never have a problem finding a machine to use or treadmill due to overcrowding. I also like the friendliness of the staff, I am always greeted with a smile a friendly hello.

The equipment is great and plentiful. The people are kind and helpful. The showers are clean. I am a happy new member!
