Excellent organization of childcare programs. Safe, healthy, and inclusive environment. Strong ideals and values are instilled in and demonstrated to the children. Fun activities for the children that are educational, physical, or crafty/artistic. Well done all around!

I appreciate very much that this summer my kids have been able to be with friends and get out of the house for camp. I could not imagine if they were stuck at home all summer while we were working. They enjoy the different activities (although we miss field trips!) and I feel like the staff is taking safety seriously with wearing masks, taking temperatures, etc.

My daughter is 14 and loves the opportunity to work with counselors and help them with the younger kids or other responsibilities. My son is 11 and loves ga-ga ball and many of the other activities. They love being outside and being active but especially love the interaction with the other kids and their counselors. They absolutely LOVE their counselors. Every day I pick them up and they tell me how much fun they had. It's so important at this time for the kids to have an opportunity to be outside, be active, and to be able to be kids. Bravo to the Midlothian YMCA for offering these camps at such a crucial time. You have been able to provide my children with much needed activities and have made a safe environment for them to be in. You have proven it can be done and I applaud you for that!!!
We really enjoy Camp Saponi at the Midlothian YMCA and the Final Four at Camp Thunderbird because it gets our son out and about during the week while we have to work. It keeps him physically and mentally stimulated, while providing important interaction with kids his age during the summer months, which can sometimes be challenging as he doesn't have many friends that live close by.
We also really enjoy the familiar friendly faces of the counselors who run Camp Saponi. They call us by name, provide feedback on how the day went, and look to run a tight and smooth ship. Our son has a blast interacting with them and looks up to them as friends, but also leaders and role models. All the hard work they are putting in to make this summer run smoothly, despite the restrictions of COVID-19, really shows in how the feel and overall positivity of the environment hasn't changed.
We appreciate the invaluable experience that Camp Saponi provides more than can be put into words! Thank you all for everything you do!

You keep the kids busy. They are tired at night. They love all the activities, especially archery and BB guns. They sing the camp songs. I like the focus on character qualities and the beads.
I like the activities that the do, and that I can drop them off before I go to work and pick them up once I get off.
My child comes home happy and more grown up and thoughtful than when I dropped him off in the morning. The first thing he told me when he got in the car Monday afternoon was, “Mom! I made new friends!”

Under normal conditions (pre-Covid 19), a wide variety of activities were available to the campers, including field trips, swimming, and other group activities. Sadly, the coronavirus health precautions dramatically reduced the activities. Despite, the restrictions, the staff did a good job of keeping the kids active and engaged.
The kids stay busy all day ! It’s a combination of outside and inside . And they have fun !
Great staff - friendly and energetic for the kids while remaining consistent to protocols and informative for parents. Very pleased to here from my kids the numerous times they wash their hands/use sanitizer throughout the day. And very neat to drive past JB Watkins on the way home and hear them trade stories of their adventures at the school.
Keeps my child active and she gets to interact with other children.
My daughter loves archery and marksmanship. She has made good friendships and is staying active. She also enjoys fort building and making fairy houses.

Drop off/pick up is extremely efficient and the camps have made it easy on the parents. Communication is awesome. But most importantly my child loves camp. The variety of activities is great!
My kids are having a blast! Staff is always so friendly. Everything seems to be well organized and seamless. After being home for 15 months I cannot have asked for a better ending to the Covid era. Thank you to all the team members behind Camp Saponi.
