I LOVE the outdoor time and variety of activities. I was told by parents of former campers that my kid would come home sweaty, tired and dirty which is EXACTLY how summer camp should be! It’s usually pulling teeth to get my kid to tell me anything about his day, and he always has something to tell me as soon as he gets in the car. When his grandma asked him what he liked about camp he said “there’s too much to even say” as a parent, I love the direct kid to car service!

There is such an Amazing variety of activities to do at Camp Saponi. Our son tells us every day of the different fun day he had.

Keeps the kids busy and having fun

My child loves swimming ever day, the weekly themes, and games. My spouse and I like the full time day camp schedule, easy pick up and drop off and YMCA staff enthusiasm amd positive reinforcement.

The kids enjoy every every aspect.

I like the variety of activities including shooting BB gun and archery. My daughter would never try that at another camp. Plus I like the leadership stuff they have her do.

Kids stay engaged, they want to go everyday. The variety of experiences is great! We especially like that kids get swimming lessons daily.

The staff is uniformly excellent and provides a fantastic experience for our six-year-old son. He has enough activities in the day to feel excited to go without so many that he can't get into a game before they are onto the next. It's a terrific program and we look forward to having him there many years to come.

I like the variety and keeping my son busy all day! I like that it’s a mix of education, physical activity and some rest throughout day. He loves it!!

More variety! Crafts, like painting, more indoor opportunity camps. The heat in the summer to be totally outdoors is not always healthy.

My son has been attending day camp at the Midlothian Y for several years now. I'm grateful for this program because it gives him something to do during the summer that he enjoys. He has made friends there and was excited to go every day, even when it rained. The counselors are always polite, patient, and kind. You can tell they have fun with the kids, even when the summer heat is set on "roast". My son does not get involved in a lot of activities during the school year, so it's really nice that he has this for the summer. It makes him happier and healthier!

My daughter had a great time and made good friends. Communication this year was well organized and clear. SHANTESE RULES!!!

I love that the YMCA day camp has a variety of activities and the kids spend most of the day outside. My son would always come home dusty and worn out! It’s just what you want for your kids’ summer instead of staying indoors and playing video games (which is what the alternative would be if he stayed home). 🤣 The counselors have GREAT energy and clearly enjoy taking care of the kids. The center director - Shantese Harvey - was so so good. Great communications on a regular basis. She knew my son individually (and there are a lot of kids) and responded to emails quickly and answered all of my questions and concerns. Great experience as always.

Close to home and camp staff really take interest in getting to know the kids.

Programs and activities that keep our kids entertained, exercising, and outdoors during the summer are exactly what we look for in a camp. Saponi delivers!

We loved camp and having Ms. Grace all summer. Mr. James was always great in the mornings greeting with a smile and the pick up staff was great also! Way to go!!

Kids stayed super active, even on rainy days that kept them campers inside. I loved how enthusiastic all the staff were. I also appreciated that they were able to try out new skills like marksmanship and archery.

We have been very pleased with Camp Saponi for the last two years.
