Jad has been with my son for two sessions now and he is fantastic. My son has sensory and transitional issues and he has worked with him weekly to build his trust and help him improve his swimming. I cannot thank Jad more for Going above and beyond to work with my son.
My pickleball instructor is the best! I’ve learned so much from her and feel more confident when playing
every thing
Water aerobics Maria is awesome
I like that the 8:30am classes get me up and moving Monday - Wednesday. The instructors are great. The exercises are all doable, although they remind us to do only what is comfortable.
I had hip replacement surgery 1 1/2 years ago. I had been a runner before surgery and was looking for a program that would help with recovery.
I’m happy I found these classes.
The y is very clean. The staff are all very kind, thoughtful. The classes are great. The instructors are top notch and ensure everyone is doing the exercise safely and correctly ! I particularly like the chair yoga classes and thank you for adding a third one in Fridays.
Variety!!
Variety of programs, friendliness of staff, size of facility-not huge, cold and dark like some gyms.
My instructor Isaac has been incredibly patient and insightful while I've been learning to swim. He's great at identifying what techniques help me learn best and what habits are holding me back.
My son seems to really enjoy the classes. The 5:35pm swim times are convenient to attend after his daycare program. I do not have a good sense though of how much swimming he has learned.
I am very happy with the Lift Heavy Get Lean class.
The Melrose Y is a workout for all ages and within walking distance from my home.
I love the pool and the staff at the pool. Scheduling swim time for lap swim is good.
I also enjoy the chair yoga and Pilates classes. Instructors are knowledgeable and helpful. It is a real community at the Y. People helping people and real concern for one another.
The renovated workout area is wonderful. The new equipment is great.
Great options for early morning workouts
Friendly and professional staff. Wide range of equipment choices to maintain my fitness.
Great friendly staff and great programs!!!!
Variety of Classes and times. Excellent instructors.
the instructors are very good with children
Instructors, accessibility
My son loves his swim classes at the Y. They have really increased his confidence and comfort around water!
I would like to say that Ruben does a great job of communicating and keeping people focused in the pool during his class.
I love the drop in pickleball and pickleball classes. I also very much enjoy the Pilates classes ( with Nicole, Amy and Mia!) and yoga ( with Michelle and Cindy). My one complaint is that there is often a long waitlist for yoga and it’s hard to get into these classes.
I adore and appreciate all of the physical wellness and amazing advice shared by the PHENOMENAL Nicole Wade. SHE IS A KEEPER!!!
Great trainers and instructors and there are a large variety of classes for older adults.
There are many activities to choose from. The instructors are always accommodating in allowing a participant to do whatever is within their own fitness level. There are many people whom you can relate to and become your friends. The 'Y' is my Happy Place now and hopefully will be for a long time to come.
Fun classes, with professional staff. The sauna is great!
Love your programs. I am currently taking 5 classes each week, including Pilates Reformer with Nicole, and recently finished Pickleball 1 and 2 with Jeff Reed. The instructors are top-notch! Love the Y community. 10 out of 10. Thanks!
My son loves Comic Book Club!

We have enjoyed the yoga/dance class with Ms. Diane very much. It's an excellent class. She is lovely by the way. This class showed us the need at the YMCA Melrose for more yoga classes and stretching and calming classes for all ages -youth, teens, adults, & elderly. It's necessary and beneficial to start young and to teach youth and teens in the community how to breathe properly and center oneself and be calm and stretch the body.
For adults and the elderly what a support it would be to have these types of yoga classes and light stretching available so close to home.
I would love to be able to keep my child in these types of classes all year long for herself and myself, especially as she grows as to make it part of her routine and lifestyle.
