Words are not enough to express by gratitude to the staff of Nurse-Next-Door (NND). They started providing care for my wife last summer, four and a half years into her battle with cancer. They were very flexible and initially NND came only for a few hours, once or twice a week. (I was uncomfortable leaving my wife alone, and their companionship gave me a chance to run errands.) Around Christmas she started on a noticeable downward trend, and NND increased their presence. By the end of this past February, my wife's Doctors concluded that Oncology had done all it could, and she entered a Home-Hospice program. The Hospice nurses came frequently, but only for short (15 min) visits. NND was there twice a day, every day, for hours, for as long as needed. NND and the Hospice nurses complimented one another, although frankly I relied more on NND. All the NND caregivers seemed to quickly become genuinely attached to us. My wife became part of their family, and they became part of ours. Emotionally, I don't see how they do it. For the last several weeks of her life, my wife was confined to a hospital bed, and I helped NND to change her, give her in-bed baths, and tend the inevitable bed sores. When the end came, I wanted NND there before calling the Hospice nurse, who officially pronounced her gone. NND and I washed and dressed her body before the funeral home came. In the subsequent weeks, NND stayed in touch to see what we might need, and even came to my wife's funeral.
Should a similar situation arise again, I would contact NND in a heartbeat.

I have been using NND for two years for my family. The customer service is wonderful, and if there's any hiccups in scheduling or communication, it's fixed in a timely manner. I've gotten to know the wonderful nurses' aides over time, and some we've grown close with.

The one hesitation would be that some nurses are better at their job than others. If Tiffanie & Tammy could be cloned I would give it a ten!
