Created a tool for Community Involvement at a Community owned golf course. Perfect combination for success
The growth of kids over the years with their peers.
Jr league in my eyes is probably one of the best programs that the PGA of America has ever launched which is still growing and staying strong.
It is a great way to get new Jr's involved in golf in a team atmosphere and a comfortable atmosphere it also keeps the parents involved.
My members and there families have enjoyed this so much they compliment Jr league on a regular basis. It has done so much for growing the game and keeping kids involved in golf.
This is by far the best nitiative of the PGA of America in my 33 years as a Professional. It creates our young generation into the game.
Everything! Team concept, easy to use registration, revenue for golf professionals, etc. etc.
Everything.
The fact it allows a facility to grow the game of golf through junior golf. Our kids programs have grown over 300% in 4 years and a lot of that is to do with PGA Jr League.
We've also seen a huge increase in our adult golf programs from parents of junior league players getting back into the game again.
Extensive support from PGA of America
Uniforms add an air of formality to the proceedings
LOVED the All Star competition
It's a great experience for the kids. They all seem to love participating in the league and it is a great way to get them involved in competition at an early age.
The mission of the PGA Junor League is to bring youth into the game in a manner that eliminates the historical perception of exclusivity of the sport and the people who play it.
The attraction of the PGA Junior League is the developmental and educational component void of a talent requirement.
I have captained 2-4 teams at my facility for the last four years. I have seen many positive results consistent with the program's mission. Also,I am seeing negative results that I believe are and will continue to have a negative impact and even derail the mission of this program.
The emphasis on winning, even at all costs, seems to be overshadowing the purpose and mission of the PGA Junior League i. e. developing and educating potential junior golfers. Is the goal of diversity still being vigorously pursued? Is welcoming and encouraging juniors with less opportunity to enter the game and then develop them as golfers and eventually strong and moral individuals still at the forefront?

When I began my involvement four years ago the idea of inclusivity, regardless of talent,
was and still is my underlying theme. Inclusivity seems to have been lost to the pursuit of winning. As I watch parents and coaches disregard the recommendations designed to help our juniors develop I question where this league is going.
In my opinion, the PGA Junior League is designed for education and development in golf and life skills. Winning should not be an objective but a consequence of development and education.
As I said, the program is the strongest and, so far, the most successful initiative to grow the game the PGA has undertaken in my 43 years as a PGA Professional. But, I think it is time to reevaluate. We need to review and analyze the mission of the PGA Junior League and decide if we are being true to the mission.

If we are to sustain the progress we have made we need to take serious look at why. The initial success we have achieved is based on the simple tenets of the mission and we must revisit this success and make sure the future structure of the league adheres to it's mission statement.
I would look forward to future discussions with the officers of the PGA and the administrators
of the PGA Junior League in this regard.
Sincerely,

Fantastic marketing tool. Right on track for today's online needs
How the kids love playing in the event
I like all the friendships among the kids that have developed as a result of PGA Jr League. I also like seeing the kids at the golf course more often when not participating in the league.
Short season, kids and Parents love it. Good revenue source
I love it! I host my own league with 4 teams and I love watching the kids strategize with each other. I especially love when the kids shake hands after the match.
It was great on a lot of levels
It got kids learning, practicing and playing all summer. Not just 1 week
It got them on new golf courses
It created low pressure competition
It made money for the professionals
Parents loved it
Its allowing us to get juniors who have not had much golf exposure to feel the excitement and meet others.
Great financial opportunity and enjoy the whole format
It is a great opportunity to get more serious about golf, and teamwork, with less pressure than tournament golf. It is a good step toward feeling more comfortable about tournament golf for a kid that isn't sure he/she can handle the challenge, and wants a supportive team atmosphere to help get over nervousness about competition. It has the positive team aspect of high school and college golf, and I recommend it as a step in bringing out the best in a young player.
The overall program is awesome for the 13u league. It would be nice if you could do more to promote the 17u league.
Kids get to spend time on the course in a stress free environment.
Great format! It provides the juniors with a welcoming introduction to golf for the beginner golfers and for the more advanced golfers a fun way to compete that is less stressful than other golf tournaments.
