I am in the silver sneakers program. It is a free program for seniors. To help us keep up our health. The are many programs to choose from. when I first started. I got 2 days with a personal trainer. First we went through my health issues. There are a lot. He was able to work out a program that was safe for me. It was wonderful. I physically felt better. I mentally felt better. Until a medical condition cut me down again. I am at a safe spot now. Unfortunately I lost all that I had gained. So I going to start over. But I do know what I can accomplish. The is always someone there who can help when you start new things. The people I have meet there are also wonderful.

Silver sneakers
I have not participated in any programs or activities.
As an 'over 65' person with insurance that includes 'silver sneakers' coverage, I was thrilled to find that classes at my local Lakewood Y are essentially no cost. I've tried quite a few classes, and have focused on several that are the right level for me (the sweet spot for me being mid-way between 'chair yoga' and 'power yoga'). And even better, I can walk to the Y! My husband is also really happy with the Y, and has been going to the Tai Chi classes since last winter. Thank you for the huge variety of classes you offer!!
Vicki Yannie, and Staff are Delightful, Knowledgeable, and Supportive. Likewise, Staff throughout the Facility.
Trainer, Will Rembert is an Inspiring, Patient, Pro!
Variety and inclusiveness.
Friendly staff.
Have been taking classes for years. It helps me take care of myself.
Zumba (Natalia) and strength (Mary -Sunday and Jan on Mon eve )
Most important reason I joined the YMCA is that the Lakewood location has a hot sauna that maintains temperatures from 180 to 200 degrees Fahrenheit.
The Lakewood Y is a welcoming place for families and seniors, as well. The exercise classes are great, good instructors. The building is typically clean, nice environment.
Group exercise classes
so far i have only used the pool for arthritis and aerobics . the arthritis class is good, but i wanted a little more of a challenge so i started the aerobics class. Maureen is a gem and is very helpful in giving alternative movement for my shoulder and knee. She is excellent at paying attention to everyone in the class.

You have very welcoming staff members at the reception desk. I use the hot tub for therapy and it always looks cared for with clear water. The lifeguards are also responsive to any questions. I'll miss visiting there since the downtown YMCA has now repaired their hot tub. Meanwhile, I'll still consider visiting during weekends when I have time to drive to your facility.
