Most important reason I joined the YMCA is that the Lakewood location has a hot sauna that maintains temperatures from 180 to 200 degrees Fahrenheit.
The Lakewood Y is a welcoming place for families and seniors, as well. The exercise classes are great, good instructors. The building is typically clean, nice environment.
Group exercise classes
so far i have only used the pool for arthritis and aerobics . the arthritis class is good, but i wanted a little more of a challenge so i started the aerobics class. Maureen is a gem and is very helpful in giving alternative movement for my shoulder and knee. She is excellent at paying attention to everyone in the class.
I like that there are so many classes that are free with membership and that we don't have to sign up for them in advance!
Programs are effective. Facility is very well equipped and managed.

The fitness programs and exercises are all vetted by people with expertise in anatomy, kinesiology, and human development. Health, not profit, is in the forefront. I find every staff member at the Y to be friendly too.

You have great customer service and a decent variety of workout equipment, including cardiovascular machines, weight-bearing equipment and a very nice swimming pool. Your facility is very clean, including the restrooms.

I like the various offerings and the ability to leave my little guy in a fun/safe space while I workout. It’s a great atmosphere for people at all fitness levels.

I go to two different y buildings and would appreciate it if they would keep up their Y360 class teacher names
I think the classes could be more structured but I do like the opportunity to explore swimming skills and I have learned how to swim, float, and do different strokes!
Your colleagues like Jocelyn and our smiling bearded guy at 5:30am as we die hards walk in.
I like that 25 minutes on 7 weight machines 3x/week is getting me to my goals of “tighter & lighter!” by my 75th bd in 2 months.

Great facility, very clean and well organized. Excellent weight room and cardio equipment.
The step class. Mary is an excellent step instructor. Truly the best. She always welcomes new students and tailors the step workout by determining whether her students are beginner/intermediate or advanced, ensuring safety and promoting a class that is full of energy and enthusiasm.
