Seniors programs are a big part of what brought me to choose The Y as my choice of where to work out. Though a miss step of my own caused me to drop out of that class, I soon found myself at home in the gum. I like that it seems everyone there, no matter what day or time I come, is on a mission. That is, young older, and everyone in between, seems serious about what they are doing. They may be having fun, but are focusedon the outcome.
As important, the staff, to a person, is great. They too, are serious about their jobs, but they have time to listen, should you have a question, and will take the time to greet you when you arrive, and often when you leave.
The Y is kept clean and tidy. My hat goes off to those responsible, for the freshness and cleanliness is a big part of, not what brought me there, but a big part of what keeps me coming.
I like this Y a lot. I've visited others, both in the Houston area and as far away as Connecticut, but none of them comes close to Monty Ballard, especially where staff is concerned.
The quality and variety

Variety
I like the schedule of classes. I have been complaining for years that there is no room made for people who want to stretch or do ab/core excercises. Very disappointing that a large area of the facility was re- structured for small group classes which are an extra charge rather than being used for the general memberships needs.
First and foremost I love the instructors. They work hard to make tough workouts. They inspire, encourage and take a personal interest in their members. In addition, the variety of classes is fabulous, allowing something to fit everyone’s needs. The Y is like my second family. ❤️
Great gym, outoor pool and kiddie area. Too bad not enough lifeguards whenschiil is in
I like the location of the YMCA. I like the activities offered at the ymca .
I love the variety of exercise programs that are available. And the instructors are excellent. I have been a member for quite a while and have loved coming to the Y.

Equipment is starting to show its age. Old stinky disintegrating & disgusting mats should be discarded and refreshed, Bodypump Equipment is falling apart. Audio in Gym is horrible. Lockers are rusting. Spend some money please here!!!!!
I participate in water exercise and enjoy every class. I like the opportunity my husband has to visit with older gentlemen his age. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I recommend you all the time.
Various types of classes for all fitness levels.
But most importantly, Roberto’s Latin dance class on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings 😁
The AOA program is very helpful to seniors.

Great selection of classes with competent instructors. A friendly atmosphere where friendships flourish.
New set of exercise machines, Varied programs from young to silver sneakers. Of course free coffee etc.
I like the variety of classes and times of the classes. I like the Active Older Adult classes, which are just right for seniors.
I like that the cardio area isn’t super crowded when I go in about 4:30.
I also enjoy the weight lifting class on Fridays at 4:30.
