The Inclusive soccer program has been amazing! I hope they continue it and/or add swimming! It’s so wonderful to have a sports program locally that understands my child requires support to learn and enjoy sports, and provide it so that he can! I’m so appreciative!
Everything so far. New to the Y
Friendly staff and very knowledgeable instructors. The class participants are friendly and supportive and the instructors make everyone feel comfortable !
I come to the Hood County Y specifically to attend Judy Hamm’s water aerobics class. She is so much fun and I get a great workout!
we play pickleball about 3 to 5 times a week, we love our pickleball community, wish that we had a few more courts, as we get pretty backed up some days. It is wonderful exercise, it is a wonderful social time, for us. We love the wonderful swimming pool, over all the YMCA is one of our favorite places to be
The pickleball schedule for availability.
The Silver Sneakers exercise class led by Tracy is excellent, and enjoy it very much and am profiting from it physically.
Margaret (Margie) Simmons
Pickleball is the best at Granbury YMCA.
Great yoga teacher! Weight watchers meet there!
The front desk personnel is very welcoming and friendly. They speak to you when you come in and when you leave. They are helpful with any questions you might have.
The lady who is now doing the housekeeping is the best you have ever had. She is busy all the time looking for things to do.
I love the Zumba classes and the frequency of the classes. I am very happy that line dancing was also added. I also appreciate all the silver sneakers classes.
The only reason my membership is at the Y as opposed to other fitness facilities/gyms in Granbury, is the availability of indoor heated pool for lap swimming. It is a huge asset to the Y and a blessing to me. That said, my biggest frustration with the Y over the past several years has been repeated days and weeks when the pool heater has been non functional and thus the water too cold for reasonably comfortable swim. I continue to appreciate the efforts of the director, Jeff Thomas, to work toward a long-term solution to sustain consistent pool availability. In the near-term I urge Y management to make the capital expenditure needed for consistent water temperature and eliminate the frequent band-aiding of the system.
I enjoy the pickleball courts, and friends wife and I have made.
I love all the variety of classes! My kids love going in child watch and obviously the pool.

Miss the white towel service
I mainly use the weight equipment. The facility always seems clean.
Silver sneakers and pickleball
Wide selection to choose from.
The weightlifting area needs more room. It's actually quite dangerous at times when there are too many people crammed into a small area-weights are lifted sideways times-nearly hitting people walking between weightlifters, IE.no walking area. Additionally, since there are too many treadmills machines being used, I would recommend removing about 10 or more of the machines and extending the weight area all the way across the mirror section. I have spoken to one of the people in charge and he said that at times the machines are used, although now after 4 months of going almost daily at various times, I have never seen more than 5 people on a row of almost 20 machines, while the weightlifting area is always packed. If you do extend the weight area-add at least one more rack of low weights, IE., weights lower than 50lbs which is commonly used. Most people use weights from 10-25lbs, but there is only 1 set, thus you have to wait often.
Having worked at the YMCA (Norwich, CT-many years ago), I understand the philosophy of the entity; however, it's become a babysitting place for kids from junior high for 2 hrs each day. These kids are lifting weights, without supervision, some look like they are going to get hurt; moreover, sometimes it's a circus with the kids-a distraction. Excluding the chaos at times, it's a liability for the YMCA. {I'm an attorney that has sued President's Health club when a minor was injured on a machine), [DON'T PUBLISH MY NAME!]
