Instructors are great, fun and knowledgeable
People are friendly
I really appreciate Jan Angilella’s Fit for Life class. It is very well=attended, and many of us have become friends. The class hits the right mix of moves and music to create a great workout. Jan gives us plenty of encouragement to stay active. Her own enthusiasm for fitness is contagious!

Kids Club is so important and a must for our family - it's what made it possible for me to get back into working out three years ago and has made it possible for me to continue. Never get rid of Kids Club!

The exercise room
I joined for the swimming pool. While we have a pool at home, it is not good for exercise.
The pools are very basic, as are the locker rooms (even after the upgrade), and I like that. In fact, I would be disappointed if the Ferris pool were changed from tile into gunnite. I only swim in Ferris if I can't get a lane in the main pool, though, because I seem to have become less tolerant of cold water as I age.
The one thing that I don't like is the new closed changing areas in the women's locker rooms. I can't just leave my locker door open and take things out, put things in as I change.
As a side note, I have always liked the variety of people who work out at the Y. There are people from all walks of life and of many races. I was disappointed recently to overhear a woman having a loud conversation with racist overtones on her cell phone. I think the closed changing areas give an illusion of privacy. Perhaps a sign reminding people that their conversations can be readily overheard might prevent this.

Just joined; too early to tell.
