I LOVE the hiking/ running videos available for viewing on the display screens while using the treadmill. I can “see trails around the world” while getting steps at my local Y 👏👏👏
The current offering works well for my family..
I do have a recommendation regarding the parking lot.
The recent renovation should have included the parking lot.
The lot needs resurfacing and striping. Which takes away from the renovated exterior!
Well equipped and friendly staff.
Love the instructors, very patient and explains everything
Love that the teachers and coaches are so personable and make an effort to learn people’s name. Sherry cares so much about the people in her class. So, not only are you getting a good work out physically, but it also benefits you socially. People become friends in class.
Just really, really wish they would completely replace that crumbling parking lot!! It certainly does not give visitors a good first impression! After all the time and money spent improving the building, and the first thing visitors see - the parking lot - is in a really sad state. Not safe for cars or for walking!
The Family like atmosphere is amazing. It provides a fun safe place for all ages
Great opportunities such as weight lifting, running mikes, basketball, swimming, great staff, and the list goes on!
Teachers know each student and welcome and encourage new students. Instructors explain benefits of each move. A variety of equipment is utilized. I benefit from the following classes: Chair Yoga, Active Senior Strength and Stretching.
It’s helpful and all activities are good 👍🏼
About twenty years ago, plus or minus, I participated in a survey at the Decatur YMCA. They had about 30 people come to a class room and explain their answers to the question that you are now asking. What I learned from that meeting is that most people do Not come to the YMCA for the reasons that I do. It's been about 10 years since I dropped my Y membership of 30 to 36 years and I am, for now, also a member of Planet Fitness.
Planet Fitness and the YMCA have almost the same equipment but in different numbers. So what does the Y have that PF doesn't. In-door Tracks and a Pool. The Pool is why the majority of people in the class were members of the YMCA. I go for the INDOOR TRACK, so I've got to drive 25 miles or so because Tull doesn't have one. However, Tull's equipment appears to be new and there is a sauna and steam room that I like. Also, PF is Very crowded and for now the Y's and Tull are not and I like that because it's easier to get on the equipment and there is less conflict.
So the real reason I came back to the Y is the TRACK. The reason that I left the Y was complicated. In the end I left because I couldn't use the track because of physical reasons. I'm back and at 75 I will be trying to use the track even if it's only for walking.
So why stay, a PF? It's a 10 min trip and is open all night 4 days a week and the Y is a 15 min trip and closes between 9 and 10. I went to PF at 11 pm last night.
Also, through Silver Sneakers I used LA Fitness. And while it's ok and they have a sauna and a small pool, I just didn't like it as well as I like the Y.
So there it is, the simple answer to your question is that I go to the Y for the INDOOR TRACK and the EQUIPMENT. Each Y is unique so at this point I don't have a favorite facility. And let's not forget the AWAY Program. I loved that, and because of that I have been to Y's in Green Bay, Dallas, Nashville and Birmingham. FUN ! Well, it was until I walked into the Y W CA in Green Bay thinking it was the Y M CA. It was very embarrassing. ;o) Seems that they said I could use the YWCA . . . with a smile.
Sincerely,
Victor Langlois
My daughter loves the play area and my wife loves the classes
The different activities offered throughout the day.
I enjoy the older adult exercises as well as the sauna and steam rooms.
The pool. The helpfulness of coaches and instructors.
Question: when will the parking lot be restriped? This is something that desperately needs to be done.
Friendly and Personable
They are friendly and the facility is clean.
I like the water classes
All of the water classes I love. Zumba and Chair Yoga. I also like the Coach Approach Program and the sense of community that permeates all around.
Yoga Classes Senior Strength
I think the exercise classes for seniors are very valuable, more people should take advantage of them, especially when Medicare covers the cost, there shouldn’t be any excuses. I wish you had more chair yoga classes because they fill up quickly. I would like to see Daily Yoga classes offered thank you. I love Sherry the teacher. She is very thorough. Probably the best chair and Hatha yoga teacher I’ve had in my life!

The fact the whole family has something to do is great. The childcare option allows me and my husband some time to workout or relax in the whirlpool, sauna or steamroom. We then get to take the kids to the indoor or outdoor pool for the whole family to enjoy together.
Swimming pool/family friendly
There is a diverse offering of opportunities, classes, activities, and programming to attract people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
Love the classes and instructors. I wish the large class floor could be redone. It is slippery.
Love the different classes and all of the equipment available. Also love that kids have fun at the play center while we, the parents, can focus on ourselves.
I like the creativity. My son has not had the same day at camp yet. He is excited to go. The programming feels very intentional and thoughtful.
I adore the variety of options for workout classes.

Many activities - all ages. Capable staff, no shrikers.
Place is kept very clean.
