It’s freshness and apparent effectiveness. As with most supplements you worry that overdosing and perhaps confirmation bias might be making itself felt.
One disturbing case, my vet had me stop my Osteon and PerformanceCJ as a possible source of overdosing so that her foal was let down in the pasterns. This condition corrected itself by week two but it made for a rather disturbing sight. I asked for help and consultation with my vet but other than an email I received no feedback at all. The veterinarian seemed to be out on vacation or just not available. The additive which I am having trouble recalling at the moment is cumulative with a top safe level of 12 mg in the body. I was forced out of caution to discontinue my use of those products. I was happy with the appearance of my mare and weanling before this intervention by the vet. Some feedback rather than fear of litigation waffling would have helped me be more secure in a decision to continue the usage of the products.

Last year I thought it was time to retire my 20 year old Eventer/Fox Hunter. Over the years he had his hocks and coffin joints injected, then we tried Osphos, then just put him on Previcox daily. I took him off his supplements, injections etc and started working with the farrier to get him barefoot for the field life. About the same time I started all the horses on Platinum Performance CJ. My old guy no longer wanted to be retired. He threw his halter at me and stuck his nose into the adjoining stalls when I was tacking his stable mate. He complained bitterly. After a 3 month rest and being on the CJ I started him back in work. It was like he was 6 all over again. He was full of himself, and more importantly he was sound. He enjoyed hunting again this past fall - not every week and not where the footing was rocky - but he was totally up for the job and first field as well. Now at 21 he's ready to go and do whatever. I think I owe it to PPCJ.
