There seem to be a lot of pickleball clinics and play times available.
I do have a serious complaint, however, about my experience with the Kennett Y. I signed up for a Beginner Serve and Return clinic to be held on Monday, June 20. Having never been to the Kennett Y before, I went to the main desk at 101 Race Street (the address on my confirmation) to ask where the outdoor pickle courts were. Unfortunately, they were about 3 miles away so I drove to those courts. There was only one other participant there for the clinic (Bruce Fromm). We waited quite awhile for a pro to show up. Finally Bruce contacted Tim Irwin who didn’t know anything about the clinic and who gave Bruce another number to call. Bruce called that number, but was only able to leave a voicemail message. We finally gave up waiting, and I left to file a complaint at the Kennett front desk.
I am very angry, frustrated and downright mad at having to experience this, my first time with my new Y membership. I wasted two hours of my time when I could have been doing something else. This is definitely not a good introduction to membership at the YMCA.
I like swimming
I enjoy the Fitness Center and the pool, however for outdoor runners it would be nice to have a running trail similar to Rocky Run only flat
Extremely friendly and knowledgeable staffs. Nate at the front-desk is very knowledgeable and has a very good customer handling skill. I am yet to explore all the areas, but I like open gym facility.
One thing you can still do better is to extend child watch hours to 8 PM.
a multitude of prgrams offering to a wide age group of kids and families supported by a friendly staff
You can schedule what you like
Everyone is friendly and cordial.
The pickleball program is well organized.
The gym is always clean with lots of sanitizer.
Great variety of classes and excellent instructors.
I don't use the programs or activities. I appreciate that the staff are friendly, and I'm definitely appreciative of the lifeguards and the Y's efforts to hire adequate numbers. I'm all for paying them reasonable wages, too. $12 an hour sounds almost miserly, given their responsibility. Many thanks.
I love the pools, camp and classes
I like the family/therapy pool
(1) Great improvements under way for pickleball—-new court construction and plenty of opportunities to play. I’d like to see more offerings for the intermediate to advanced players. There is a league night which shows great promise once it is fine tuned. You have one of the best guest instructors around, Julie Kessler. I’m thrilled you have her on board. The clinics are a wonderful idea, but I have a suggestion for the Y: separate the beginner and intermediate/advanced clinics. No intermediate wants to pay $30 and be partnered with someone who cannot get the ball over the net during drills. It is a waste of time and money.———(2) terrific gym facilities and super classes. I love Tina’s HIT classes!
There is a significant number of different machines, free weights, treadmills, etc to avoid waiting an insurmountable amount of time.
Wellness Center,
The knowledge and availability of staff(I love being greeted by Paula, Sally and John!), cleanliness and very hard-working team of cleaners, Steve and his management of gym, the outdoor 50 m pool, heaven on earth. I have had the opportunity to move from the area but declined because the Upper Main Line Y is the center of my well-being! My son and granddaughter as well, who is thriving as a competitive 9-yr-old swimmer. Thank you UMLY for giving us this quality of life!
Availability of pools to lap swim
Coordination with other Y programs. My spouse now attends Parkinson’s Cycle class at west Chester y

I am most interested in Pickle Ball
This branch has very unique offerings for kids that no other branch has. We have done the "Explore the Creek" activity and are looking forward to the next one!
The pickleball program is phenomenal. The staff is lovely. The facilities are meticulously clean.
I think the swim lessons were very effective and helped my daughter to become a stronger swimmer.
My daughter enjoys the swim lessons and the summer day camp.
My kids love the coach a lot!
My son has enjoyed his teacher for beginning swim. She is patient and careful in her manner, allowing my son space to explore swimming with a sense of felt safety—which is very important especially for him. I am very thankful for this experience. Thank you!

I think that the Y does a great job!
