What does the Y do really well?

I would recommend the YMC to other families with young kids. My son has loved the basketball program, and my twins are currently enrolled in swimming lessons. They've had more advances in swimming in the first two lessons than I saw all summer, and they LOVE Beth and the other teachers.

One point of feedback - for parents (especially single parent families), it would be great to have more early morning class times that would allow me to come after/before picking kids up without missing too much work. Like 7:30-8:30am classes. And/or more babysitting options!

What does the Y do really well?

I have been a member at the Cleaver Family YMCA for a very long time and really like it. The staff, the facility, the community -- all a really great vibe.

I will use this space, however, to tell you that I do not at all think it's appropriate for children to be permitted to use equipment in the workout/weight room. Even though they go through "training" there is no supervision and they are often using equipment incorrectly. Their parents leave them unattended in the weight room and go to Yoga or Bootcamp classes, so the kids are on their own. I was on a treadmill the other day when a young girl got on, fell down, and could've been badly hurt had I and another member not rushed to her rescue. These kids are using equipment that gym members want to use, but have to wait for the kids who are often fooling around, looking at their phones, not paying attention, and using the equipment incorrectly (which can be incredibly harmful to them). This is a reason for people to opt to leave the Y and find a workout facility that doesn't permit this.

I strongly recommend you reconsider this policy. It does no one any good - except parents who are looking for an easy "babysitting" option. More important than the inconvenience to other gym members is the potential for danger and/or injury to these young people.

What does the Y do really well?

The only program I've participated in is toddler swim lessons for my son, which we both liked. The instructors were enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and patient, and the pool and locker room areas seemed to be well-maintained. I would recommend the Y for toddler swim lessons.

What does the Y do really well?

location is good. early morning classes are good.

Mike Goodman, Gary, Jean (yoga)and Derrick are very good instructors. Derrick has changed up the Insanity class to meet the needs of the morning crowd. They all are motivating.

Janice is a rock star on Tuesday morning at the front desk.

I do think that is it crazy that First name removed, who opens on a three to four mornings a week, is living there.
