Without exception, the staff is welcoming--from the front desk to all of the instructors, everyone is pleasant, knowledgeable and encouraging. The classes are great! I hope the pool can eventually get back to earlier hours; I miss the 5 am start, but I know the lifeguard situation is tough.

I love the lap pool
Everybody is nice and the facility is lovely. The only thing i would suggest is to tell the kids not to sit on the equipment and play on their phones. Once in a while you really MUST take a call like from a doctor, but just sitting on the equipment to text for 10 or 15 minutes kind of boggles everybody up who is trying to work out and go.

Great value and great staff
I love the Parkville Y but there are a few things I'd recommend changing...change the hours for pool deck amenities to reflect those of overall facility.
Men's locker room could be cleaner. I don't shower there often but when I do the shower drains are usually disgusting. Don't be afraid to turn the sauna up. I'd also prefer the mats in sauna as I don't want to step in pooling sweat.
Overall the weight room/cardio layout is fantastic. One thing I would like to see is access to the personal trainer room if no one is using it. It seems like all the medicine balls are no longer accessible to use and I used to use that stairwell in the public area to do abs.
I was very impressed with the Kirk Center when they opened but since then they've made access to their parking lot so difficult and stupid that I don't bother going. Parkville Y is my favorite.
The amount of aquatic options are terrific.
THEIR TRUE FOCUS ON HEALTH AND FITNESS FOR THE ELDERLY AND THOSE IN NEED AS DESCRIBED BELOW. Stay Fit, Stay Young. No matter what your age.
The separate warm water pool and water classes (especially taught by Jackie) that really focus on beneficial and targeted exercises to help those that can no longer do land-based work outs and want to stay in shape. People are driving from other parts of town, just to join her classes and to use our warm water pool, so they don't over stress the joints/muscles. The typical lap pools are too cold to be beneficial for this need.
Many people taking these classes are doing some form of rehabilitation or are mid age and up to in their 90's. Instructor Jackie treats everyone with respect and focuses on what people need to keep their joints and muscles in shape. Most importantly, since Jackie as an instructor is also >70 years old, and she gets in the water doing the same exercises all through the class, she is an INSPIRATION to all. She really gets it and feels what we feel,and knows what it takes to stay healthy as an aging adult.
Interesting to note: I've seen a few younger people come and go. They first think it's too easy, but in fact, have trouble keeping up! You find they aren't really there for a workout and soon move to the jazzercise class where they can just shake their body without much purpose to music and socialize.
I am really impressed at the facility and I have recommended it to many of my friends.
