We sent our rising 3rd grader to Mathnasium in downtown Bethesda over the summer, as he had a tough school year and was a bit behind in math. Initially he was nervous to go. After the very first lesson he came home excited and loving math again! By the end of summer, he had made up so much ground he was almost completely caught up again. Within the first week of the new school year, his teacher was ready to give him enriched instruction in class. We honestly couldn’t have had a better experience - Kathryn & Barry are so attentive, it is apparent they genuinely care about helping their students.
Mathnasium has been wonderful! It gives our 4th grade daughter a supportive, encouraging place to practice her math skills. We originally signed up for a short block of 8 sessions over the summer, but our daughter’s attitude toward match changed so dramatically that we enrolled for a full year. In truth, our daughter begged us to enroll!
Over the past three months, she has gone from a reluctant math student who refused to memorize her multiplication tables to a kid who is excited to get to Mathnasium! Her confidence at school has skyrocketed. She postpones play dates and runs in on the weekends before soccer and basketball games so she can practice. She loves every adult in the center, especially Kathryn, I especially appreciate the homework help, which can handle whetever a child is assigned at school. I can send a quick note to Kathryn and Barry about a difficult homework topic and they quickly identify the skills ant sissies and add them to my child’s binder.
I highly recommend Mathnasium in Bethesda.

When our daughter needed help with Math we choose Mathnasium. Her grades and confidence improved. The staff is friendly and well organized, and the hours convenient. Mathnasium Bethesda was a good choice.

I am iterested to see how this experience translates into the end of summer assessment and into his approach to math when school resumes.
The scheduling was convenient - so we could always find a time slot 2 or 3 times a week that worked for us. The regular performance updates and the view of which areas needed more attention was very useful.
Our goal was to ensure that our son build solid foundation and these sessions helped do that very well by reinforcement and practice.

Mathnasium offers a way for kids to really retain the math that they learn in school. The material at school is often covered quickly and/or superficially and Mathnasium helps the kids understand and remember the math after they have forgotten it.
Initial assessment/lesson plan was very accurate. I also appreciated the hands on attention from the center’s owner!

Mathnasium in Bethesda was great for our daughter. Catherine, Barry and their staff are wonderful and patient. My daughter discovered she loved math. She looked forward to going to Mathnasium. They got her up to speed on what she was lacking in public school. Now she's ahead thanks to them!

Mathnasium in Bethesda did an amazing job for our daughter. She started the program in 4th grade. We felt her school was not rigorous enough and we wanted to make sure she was on track. Kathryn and Barry are great; they and their staff are so patient with the kids. The program is very thorough and teaches kids the intuition around many concepts. The rewards in the program help the kids stay motivated. Our daughter was always excited to go. Now math is her favorite subject!
