The food was excellent! We had the lobster risotto and fish special (striped bass), and both were amazing. We loved all the subtle flavors.
Our server, Emily, was sweet, attentive, and personable. Her recommendations were point-on. We love sitting in her section and enjoy the little round table in the front window. We were excited to see it was available, and super happy that we were seated there when we requested it.

The atmosphere in the restaurant is very calm with soft lighting. The wait staff is very attentive and the fresh bread with olive oil is a nice touch as you wait for your meal. We had the zuppa di pesce and squid ink pasta and both dishes were fantastic. The squid ink pasta could have used a little more pesto flavor if we had to critique something but overall it was an excellent experience.
The food!!! It is so good and there is a great wine selection.
Was the first time our server didn’t really seem familiar with the Fifth Group Rewards System so when we tried to pay with credit (we accrue a lot at El Taco) he didn’t really know how to look it up or apply the credit which took an additional 20 minutes. Finally got it sorted. So that was not awesome, everything else was great.

We were very impressed with the food.
Sean was a very good waiter and gave us the proper amount of service.
The only negatives we had were:
My wifes Bolognese Ragu could have had more sauce and I wanted a side of pasta with the bolognese ragu to go with my Veal Saltimboca but was told by Sean he would have to charge me $15.00 for a half portion.
What I ate of my wifes turned out to be more than adequate.
We enjoy the Virginia-Highlands area and the food at La Travola is always excellent!
