Our manager, Kandy, is great. With a high EQ (as it seems), Kandy understands the needs and wants of employees and uses this information to create opportunities for development and intimate (but always professional) interpersonal relationships. As a student it has been challenging to find an employer who I feel supports my education and actively endorses my employment by accommodating my time restrictions. This has both increased my workplace participation, as she has helped internalize the businesses community and retail value, and increased my buy-in that the business is creating value not just for customers but employees too.
