Member Testimonials
Aquatics program and staff are incredibly competent, excel in supervision of swimmers, and diligently enforce water-safety protocols—and are member-oriented and friendly, too!
This YMCA is fantastic! Without exception the instructors have been exceptional with constant changes in the the format of the class to keep it interesting, and the coaching - just WOW! Love it. Also, I have observed that feed back is not only "heard" but implemented! Thank You!!
Location and the stiff
I’ve been extremely pleased with my experience at the Southeast Raleigh YMCA. Although I usually visit the one in Holly Springs, this location feels more connected to my community. From the culturally appropriate music playing on the loudspeakers to the warm greetings from the friendly staff, it really feels like home. Waleska and Davina in the aquatics department have been especially amazing, making my swim lessons not only effective but also incredibly positive and comforting. The entire atmosphere here truly supports my fitness journey and I’m grateful for the welcoming environment they provide!
Ease to get in and out
It's close to home and it has everything I need in a exercise facility.
People are nice and friendly, clean place , good thrive classes, very considerable staff and management.
Facility is very clean and nice.
The staff at this facility are very friendly. The place is very clean and inviting especially if you have never been to this facility before . Its also a location that's right off the highway.
Love the ride in and ride out set up! This location is a bit far from home but easy to access. My daughter did mention that the bathrooms aren’t always clean. She may just have high standards
My daughter has comeback excited everyday about activities, friends and counselors. Staff and counselors are very friendly, supportive, and excited to be there. It’s our first summer here and have loved it. Thank you!
The staff are friendly and very helpful! The classes are good and the space is new and clean.
I would rate Southeast YMCA Camp a 10 out of 10 for convenience and the familiarity my children have developed with the staff over the years. They’ve been attending since 2022, and each summer, I see growth—not just in the camp itself, but in how comfortable and eager my kids are to go each morning. As a parent, that truly means a lot.
I want to highlight how impactful some of the staff have been. Mr. Rodney is outstanding—his energy and commitment do not go unnoticed. Kristine is exceptional, and Mr. Justin has a genuinely kind spirit that my daughter connects with. This year, I also had the pleasure of seeing how well Ms. Jada worked with my son, which is no small task! She did a phenomenal job keeping up with him and keeping him engaged.
While I have many positives to share, I also want to express a few concerns that I believe are worth noting to help make camp even better. One issue I noticed was during field trips—particularly to public parks. It felt more like "big kids watching little kids" at times, and supervision didn’t appear as tight as I would have expected. On one occasion, I visited unannounced and was able to speak with my daughter for several minutes before any staff noticed. When someone did approach, instead of identifying who I was, I was casually asked if I was a grandparent, which came across as unprofessional and frankly insulting.
Finally, I would love for there to be more communication with parents regarding field trips—just a quick text or call with details such as the location and general timeframes would make a big difference in giving parents peace of mind.
Despite these concerns, I truly appreciate all the effort the YMCA puts into providing a fun and engaging experience for the kids while emphasizing safety, independence, and activity. I am grateful for the impact this camp has had on both of my children, and I look forward to seeing how the program continues to grow.
The counselors are always friendly and in good spirits and the kids love going because of them most of the time! The chants, activities, and field trips are always so fun and creative! The only negative is the lunches and snacks are usually very unhealthy. Thanks for another great summer :)
Proximity, facilities, and the POOL
Everyone there is great, very nice and very helpful when needed.
Pool!
I LOVE the focus on ending generational poverty and the programming and facilities in place to reach that goal.
I also appreciate the two tiered membership pricing.
Awesome for sports
The basketball programs are very well run. I am impressed with the drills, organization, and enthusiasm of the program. Thanks!
Excellent environment families to work out and engage with the community
The councilors greeted the kids in the morning by opening the car doors and escorting them in the afternoon to ensure safety at all times.

Easy commute and the offer a variety of classes for you to choose from
I like the fact that my granddaughters enjoyed their time in Summer Camp, I like that they had structure during the summer while visiting with me their grandmother. I like that the camp's counselors compassion shows when dropping the girls off and picking them up, and I especially like that my granddaughters are looking forward to next year.
