Friendly staff and great amenities! Hours and location make visits easy and convenient. It’s more than a gym, it’s community that improves health and wellbeing.
Wish the speedbags were better managed. A number of them weren't functioning when I was there a month ago. I maintained my membership because there was a heavy bad I can usually use and speedbags, however one speedbag of the three is working. Lastly I wish there were some mirrors that could be used for shadow boxing. I keep having to move around the weight room as people use machines that are butted up against the mirrors leaving no room to use them.
I enjoy the group exercise classes.
Great equipment; nice staff and people
My Nuuanu YMCA experience is that it was easy to join. The staff at the front desk were friendly, helpful, and knew everything about signing up, and how to register for classes.
I have really enjoyed the classes I have been taking. The instructors give clear directions, play fun music and make sure each member exercises safely and at their personal ability. The members of each class are also helpful and friendly. I feel like I'm making new friends every day.
I especially like the Aqua Fit classes. They are challenging and lots of fun. The pool is beautiful and so inviting every morning. We get a good workout which is enjoyable and easy on aging joints.

Child watch does crafts at this location which my daughter loves.

I feel that it's very important that swim instructors make a connection with the children they are teaching to swim. Many kids fear the water and for swim instructors to give the comfort to the children, it is very important. The swim instructors here at YMCA Nuuanu provides just that. Thank you for all the wonderful swim instructors. You guys are teaching something much bigger than you know. What youre teaching them can save their own lives one day. They are attentive, patient, kind, and professional. Thank you hiring such a great team!!! My son loves his swim instructors. Big thank you to Ms.An and Mr.Noah!!!
The clientele are older which makes me feel comfortable.

The coaches are attentive and you can tell they want the students to improve and succeed. The size of pool and the step seats makes it easy for us to view the students swimming.
I like the small classes and having the students get more comfortable in deeper water instead of just standing in the shallows.

my daughter loves it and the instructors are very nice to the kids special to my daughter.
I like that the members in the group classes are helpful to new comers and to each other. The instructors remind students to go at their own pace and level. The facilities appear clean.
I hope the parking situation could improve so that more spaces would be available.

I love it. The staff there are all so nice. We chat and they are friendly toward me and my kids. I like working out and seeing the same friendly people. I am also so grateful that there is a scholarship that helps families afford to be members. I am so thankful and happy to be a member of the Ymca.
