Just be more organized. Instructors don’t always seem to know the start times/stages they’re training!
The teacher Kacie is amazing
Clean facility welcoming employees
Caring coaches.
Focus on team and atitude.
More coaching staff for the gymnastics team, a larger gymnastics gymnasium. More experienced coaches for the team, most of the coaches are teenagers
The instructors, and coach Jane are great with the children. My child has been progressing and learning new skills. I would recommend this to family and friends.
wish teachers would share more with parents about progress. given we can’t sit and watch it’s hard to gauge progress.
Hardwork and dedication towords swimmers
Casey is an amazing teacher! My daughter actively wants to impress her. I love that she gives us options on what to do/skip. I love that even though I’ve done the class a few times, we still learn things (rather than just repetition, which I do know is importantly).
The female instructor for Thurs 5:55 level 3 is amazing!!! She’s a keeper and other coaches could stand to learn from her affective behavior and kid- friendly interactions!
I’ve had a wonderful experience with the Fairfield YMCA Swim Team. The coaches are supportive, knowledgeable, and consistently motivate the kids to improve while still keeping practices fun. The team environment is positive and encouraging, and the program is very well organized. I’ve loved seeing how much confidence my child has gained in her swimming skills. Overall, it’s an excellent place to train, make friends, and grow as a swimmer.
Allow for sick make ups in swim and more detailed swim instruction in group classes.
More instruction, less of the same game, less wasting time (I.e waiting for kids to line up perfectly), more drills and support/ coaching
Great swim instructors.
The classes are convenient and small enough that the kids get one-on-one attention, the. Get to learn from their peers as well. Great class!
Annoying as a caregiver to spectate.
People crowd the glass door and sit on the stairs in the way of the railings despite signs. Some of the chairs in the hallways are visibly dirty and dilapitated. The vending machine is an attractive nuisance for younger children.
The online schedules and offerings are a challenge to navigate so we come in person to make plans.
In the pool, the instructors and instruction seems excellent! I appreciate the teachers and that there are lifeguards on deck.
We love Ms Jane our gymnastics coach. The front staff is very friendly and it is not crowded during the day. I like the laid friendly back here.Thank you!
My son loved his Karate class and his teacher. He is excited to go every week. He also likes swim class but he’s not excited about going although he is aware that it is very healthy for him!
There needs to be better organization from the top down.
The coaches are very friendly and kind
Love the activities schedule
Maybe I’ll try a little of everything
Staff is very nice and the participants are very welcoming
Staff is very friendly anf goes above and beyond
We believe that coaches should be teaching the swimmers more technique. For example, how to properly flip and kick off the walls. The swimmers also show that they lack endurance on 100m and 200m because they only practice 25s and 50s. We were advised that the new coach is much tougher and has higher expectations from the swimmers which is good. That should be the same for all the coaches.
Love the pools - adding swimming to my regular exercise routine has been a terrific change for my body and mind. I sometimes regret not coming to the Y on days I stay home, but have never once regretted coming.
Your front desk staff are helpful and cheerful. The water pressure in the showers is luxe - makes showering at home feel lame. Lifeguards are pleasant and seem attentive. Schedule changes show up in the app and are well communicated to members on the whiteboard at entry - super helpful as a member.
On my wishlist, if you're looking for improvements to make -
- longer opening hours Friday-Sunday
- maybe even an hour later on weeknights?
- I often (30% of the times I visit?) encounter bandaids, hair clumps, and other yuck floating in the pool - if anything can be done about that, would love it :)
- rentable lockers?
(Expect there's little you can do about this, but navigating to the aquatic schedule from the YMCA Android app is a clunky multi-step process each time - wish I had the option to jump straight to the "Aquatic / All" view. First world problem, for sure.)
No small effort to offer the array of services you do, at a reasonable rate - to everyone who makes it possible, thank you! Very glad I signed up this year.
Kind regards,

Love having 2 pools. Love swim lessons with Dave.
Good experience for my daughter.
Woodruff YMCA pool is a truly resort-like experience! The pool's unique glass, 'green house' like roof and walls create a stunning, bright atmosphere. Not only is it the best lap swimming pool I've found in Connecticut, but the staff is also absolutely amazing. Highly recommended!
The communication from the coaches is all but non existent. Questions go unanswered. Meets aren’t explained. Parents are left or guess what events to put the kids in.
Couldn’t tell you one thing my child needs to work on or if I should attempt to get him extra coaching do a weakness because the coach doesn’t communicate with the parents.
Actually, that’s not completely true. When he’s ordering us to volunteer or asking for money he has no problem contacting parents.
I’ve said this every survey, if my child dint love swimming and his teammates I would switch teams in a heart beat.
Lastly, I refuse to give the YMCA any additional donations because I’m furious that any of my money goes to paying this coach.
My child loves the kids and the coaches. She has learned so much and really built her confidence.

I have no complaints
