This was my son's 4th summer at the lake (my other son spent 7 summers there). Love that they are away from their phones for so long, and truly go back to basics of playing sports, cards, making friends and having tons of fun! Love that they have to sleep without air conditioning, have to share and clean their own bathrooms, and have to learn to live without parents for 3 weeks. These are great character builders!
Charlie had a blast at camp! Even as one of the younger kids, he felt very comfortable and loved all of the activities. He built confidence and made great friends.

Very well organized. Excellent counsellors. Lovely people. Sense of confidence in leaving my two 8 year olds at Fairview Lake for 2 weeks. They have come home transformed; so confident, and independent - all the things people promise will happen at camp, but (I'm not American, it falls outside my experience) honestly I had my doubts. It was wonderful for everyone (even for their poor anxious mother, going slightly nuts in an empty house and trying to enjoy the silence).
My son had a wonderful time. I was very touched to see how emotional all the boys were saying goodbye to each other.

Everything! We are such huge fans of this camp — from the setting to the staff to the food to the traditions to how welcoming they are overall to everyone. We spend a lot of our "off months" talking about everything we love about Fairview Lake.
My kids love Fairview Lake camp. They request to go back every summer. They have a great time enjoying the beautiful lake and the outdoors. Every summer they come back more independent than when they left. They certainly thrive in a welcoming and safe environment that all YMCA camps provide.
My 12 yr old had never been to camp, when I picked him up 3 weeks later he seemed a different kid, more sure of himself. While in the car he cried because he was not going to be among those children anymore. YMCA camp was the best choice for my son this summer. He felt welcome and part of a team the whole time he was there. A big round of applause for Fairview Camp , I recommend it for any child who wants to enjoy the outdoors and some great company.
Fairview Lake has amazing administration and they are very helpful. They handle everything and respond very quickly whenever I have any questions about camp for my kids.
I like that there is diversity at this camp and that my son is always happy when he returns home.

So much to unpack. Okay, the counselors - these guys are first rate. They were kind and forgiving and patient and FUN with both my boys. Both boys can be taxing. Your counselors handled both impeccably - they knew when to make a big deal of something and when not to. Not enough of that these days. Then there's the constant photos posted every day. A great reassurance for a nervous mom. The food - my kids are still talking about the Friday picnics, the amazing french toast, the chicken sandwiches...all the way up to management - so management, even, is first rate. My oldest was originally places in a different cabin, separated from his 3 best friends. The day of drop off I drove off feeling like I should have spoken up, but I hate to be that person, the complainer. But I eventually pulled over on the side of the road and spoke to a woman who answered the phone. Angela maybe? She saved the day. She not only moved him back into the cabin in a last-minute pivot, but she made me feel okay asking for that, which was above and beyond. All in all, best sleepaway experience ever. Every year.
Eden adores camp, it is the best. She comes home happy and joyous. I wish I was able to afford to send her all summer
