So far my son's summer camp experience has been great. He has had some difficulty with his behavior in the beginning, but the team is great at helping him with his needs. They try to make him feel comfortable and have been great at communicating his needs with me.
The staff has great welcoming energy. They talk and treat the children with respect. They are pretty consistent with informing me about my child’s day. Thanks to the East Orange YMCA for providing a great camp experience for my child.

I think the camp is cool. HOWEVER, I feel the payment schedule needs to be revamped because NOT EVERYONE gets paid every week it needs to be an option for weekly payments and bi-weekly payments. Just a suggestion. Thank you.

I can’t say enough great things about the staff and counselors at Y Camp. From day one, it’s been clear that this team is highly alert, aware, and truly dedicated to every single child and parent. They remember names, faces, and details—making the experience feel personal and safe.
What really stands out is how quickly they take action. Whether it’s answering a question, solving an issue, or offering reassurance, the response is always fast and effective. Even if someone doesn’t have the answer on the spot, they know exactly where to find it and follow through without hesitation.
I’ve had situations where my child needed support before I could arrive, and the team always stepped in immediately. They calmly say, “Don’t worry,” and follow it up with exactly what they’re doing to help. That kind of care and communication means everything to a parent.
They also keep us updated about the day, and it’s so comforting to know what’s going on. You can see the teamwork in action—everything runs smoothly, and everyone is either smiling or laser-focused, but always pleasant and professional.
This group shows an incredible level of responsibility, compassion, and unity. It truly feels like a well-run, safe, and joyful place. Thank you, Y Camp staff and counselors—you’re amazing!
My son is making friends, enjoying the summer safely, and swimming twice a week. This keeps the kids busy with fun activities and community during the summer, all in a productive and enjoyable environment.
My child attends the orange location and she loves the environment much better. There's more and better activities. The staff are well mannered than their previous location. And the organization and communication is much better.

I’ve had a wonderful experience with the YMCA aftercare program for my child. The staff is caring, attentive, and truly makes an effort to get to know each child individually. It gives me peace of mind knowing our child is in a safe, structured, and positive environment after school.
The daily activities are engaging and well-balanced — from homework help to creative play and outdoor time. My son always comes home happy, sometimes even disappointed that the day is over! I've also noticed improvements in their social skills and confidence, which I credit in part to the supportive atmosphere at YMCA.
Thank you to the entire team for creating such a welcoming and enriching space. I highly recommend this program to any parent looking for reliable and high-quality after-school care.

I love the 1:1 lessons with great teachers- they are patient, kind, and great at helping kids build their swimming skills. I'm so happy with my child's progress, and she's excited to go swimming this summer!
Love the instructors, however we can use at least one more instructor to help with the kids who don’t have private lessons it’s only one instructor and you’ll have 5 kids trying to learn to swim in 30 mins one at a time. It’s not enough instructors to kid time for all kids.
The team is a responsible team that nurtures and cares for the children in their care. They provide activities that are developmentally appropriate for all children. I feel comfortable with my daughter in their care.
