The atmosphere
Weight equipment, members and staff.
Close to my office
I mostly use the pool. The water is warmer than most pools I visit. The staff is very friendly and there is convenient parking. I also like the large spacious locker rooms.
Nice gym, great downtown location so besides the gym can also enjoy a city run or bike ride and have a nice steam after.
I have been a member of the downtown Y for 20yrs. It is one of the best gyms in Dallas. It provides a safe place in downtown. I would not leave the Y unless it closed down.
The staff from Walter, Rod (game changer), Caleb and the weekend ladies are so cordial. Facilities are always clean.
great facility and staff with very convenient location
It is a spacious facility that you can work out in peace. I like all the different options of a work out too. You have the basketball and racket ball courts, ample cardio equipment, weight lifting, and the pool. After a strenuous workout, there is the recovery of the steam room, sauna, and whirlpool. Great facility that has it all.
Great staff and safe environment.
I like the close proximity of the YMCA to my home along with the presence of Precor.AMT elliptical machines. The staff is also very friemdly
Great variety of fitness options, especially having the hammer strength machines. I’m battling back from an injury and the hammer strength machines have allowed me to continue workouts with minimal stress on body. Been life changing! So being able to do some free weights, cable machines, and hammer strength machines keeps me excited and coming back for more exploration. Next area to explore is the CrossFit section.
The body pump class..
The experience is nice friendly
The Downtown Dallas YMCA is staffed with very helpful, kind, and supportive staff and managers. The large spacious gymnasium is a welcoming, clean, and safe environment. The gym is well equipped with free weights, cable machines, weight machines, treadmills, exercise bikes, basketball, racket ball, squash, handball courts, swimming pool, wet and dry sauna, whirlpool, various classes , exercise rooms, and clean well-appointed locker rooms.
The diversity of the clientele from age 5 to 95 and a rich mix of people from all walks of life and from all over Dallas is very appealing. The whole atmosphere is friendly, kind, and welcoming in every way. I especially enjoy the collegial atmosphere among the gym members. I have been
a member of this YMCA since 1980, when it was located across the street. 43 years later I have made countless friends and met many wonderful people. I am more healthy because of the YMCA. Thank you for your service.
There is no other facility in the downtown area that has the amenities the T.Boone offers. I have heard one of the reasons the Y is up for sale is because of the belief that the downtown apartment buildings in the area will pull potential members away from the Y. The apartment's facilities are for walkers and coffee sippers. They do not offer anywhere close to the workout options and experience the T.Boone offers.
I hear that our membership participation is roughly 50% pre-covid. I believe there are several reasons for this:
1. The T.Boone was the LAST workout facility to open the wet areas which are a very big draw. No other facility can compete.
2. The lady's wet areas are closed other than the showers.
3. The Y looks like it's about to close. Lights burned out, peeling paint, poor cleaning and sanitation, etc.
4. Ever heard of a "Self-fulfilling prophesy"? We (the members) have heard of a potential sale of the Y for years. Of course, people will not join if they think the Y is going to be closing soon.
I could go on but you know most of this. So, I have a challenge to the Y board and management:
1. I saw recently where the Y gave $250K for student's scholarships. Why not, just this once, take care of the ones that made that possible. Conduct a capital campaign to repair the Y and bring it back to it's glory and possibly suspend scholarships for a season and rebuild the Y.
2. Raise membership rates and make more people pay their fare share. I am all about taking care of those that need financial help, but please, get the homeless people out,
3. COMMIT TO CURRENT MEMBERS AND POTENTIAL MEMBERS THAT THE T.BOONE Y WILL BE THERE FOR THEM.
Thanks,
Gary Brown

Friendly staff, plenty of relevant equipment and above all, the cleanliness to include spray bottle stations allowing members to wipe down equipment before and after use.
Perfect gym and perfect staff. just hate the to pay to park
The swimming pool, location and hours are very convenient for me.
I was pleasantly surprised by the facilities and amenities available at this location.
Pool, spa, showers, chill area. Enjoying it.
The kindness demonstrated by the employees. The facility is always clean and the atmosphere is pleasant.
Friendly staff and excellent group classes especially Body Pump and Strength!
I really like the amenities that this Y downtown has over the others in the metroplex..
I love the friendly and helpful staff, especially Caleb and Anna!!
This is a great YMCA - very clean and lots of strength training equipment. The only complaint I have is that the steam room has a lot of mechanical problems and seems to be out of service often. Also there is never enough coffee when I come in around 10AM.
But the staff is awesome at this facility - top shelf!
- The location
-The different options and times for instructor led classes.
-Instructor David evaluates the strength of class participants and subsequently determines what exercises to include in the class to make attendees stronger which is amazing.
Swimming and going to all the ymca s pools
The steam room, sauna, and staff are amazing. This is a membership I will happily pay while I live in Dallas.
PLEASE stay open later than 8p though. That 8p close time is too soon. Even 8:30p would be better.
Enthusiastic staff making our lives better...
Awesome array of physical assets to make that happen.

I enjoy the structured classes and, particularly, the instructors Tawnya who leads Body Pump and Rhonda who leads the noon spin class.
