Very well run beautiful great equipment
great facility
Overall good experience. Facility is clean and staff are helpful and on-task.
Professional approach. Great facilities. Good experience so far interacting with staff and coaches.
From the moment I step in to the Y, I am greeted by name by Will and the whole front desk team.
As a person with Parkinson's Disease, I am so happy to be able to take as many as eight classes for PD each week - both online and in person. Coupled with the fact that the Y offers people with Parkinson's free family memberships, this is a win-win!
The instructors are friendly and energetic, while empathetic to physical limitations at the same time.
I love the egym
The person helping me set up my classes was very helpful. The instructor
for The Stretch and Repair class is very good.

Everything
The Y is a wonderful place and offers something for everyone. I love the classes and the E-gym.
Everyone is so friendly and helpful.
One of the primary things I value about the YMCA in Somerset Hills is that I was able to talk with the head of facilities and he explained to me the HVAC system and the improvements that were put in place around the time of the initial waves of Covid. It seems to be very well thought out and takes much of what was advised for safety and sanitation and put into practice. I don't expect any indoor space is 100% safe anymore but I think the whole crew at the Y did a wonderful job balancing safety and sanitation with cost to run the system. Thanks.
I do also enjoy the people that work here. Super helpful and usually smiling. When I see employees enjoying themselves, I interpret that as the management is doing a good job taking care of them which means, management is likely taking care of all the other important aspects of the facility as well.
I really enjoy the new space as well. I initially joined the Y before the renovation and TBH, I was happy with it then. However, I was very excited when the renovations began in anticipation of what was to come. Not disappointed. I don't need some fancy Lifetime fitness space. I need a clean, well organized place near to my home to get in and exercise easily. This fits the bill wonderfully.
I haven't yet ventured into the swimming areas but I plan to shortly. The new brighter lights in the pool closer to the entrance are really nice.
I have taken a few classes in the past, mostly spinning, and I look forward to finding some time to rejoin them and explore some new ones as well.
I think the only complaint I have is that there is only one Concept 2 Rower/Erg. The other two Ergs are pretty poor machines and worn out. Concept 2's are the standard. Crew programs at top schools have used them for a long long time for good reason.
Active older adults classes
The very best in YMCA experiences! Has every imaginable family activity for the best health possible.
I love the Pilates classes offered at the Y. You have great Pilates teachers!
The front desk staff is amazing. Cleanliness of the entire location. Helpful staff, I've even had interactions with custodial/maintenance, all wonderful. The amount and variety of cardio and strength equipment. I left another "newly built" YMCA after having visited Somerset on the advice of a friend.
Friendly and helping staff. Most facilities are in good order.
Great facility and staff.
Staff is friendly, the facility is very clean. It is a wonderful community. The classes and instructors are great. It is my go to place to reduce stress!
It offers so much. A huge variety of exercise classes and gym equipment. We no longer use the programs for kids, but there are a lot of them also.
Pleasant, clean environment. Friendly people and good variety of classes.
Wonderful staff and nice facility
I mostly go for lap swimming. It’s wonderful that you have two lap pools and one is warmer than the other.
I enjoy both. And your hours are EXCELLENT!
The lap lanes are open all day long and night for lap swimming. I am currently a member of the Randolph YMCA and the schedule came out and the pool is closed from 12 PM to 5:30 PM and then 12PM to 4 pm on two of the days. That’s the time I like to swim as do other people. Those are terrible hours and I can no longer swim at the Randolph Y. They said because they couldn’t get any lifeguards which they knew was coming. The Randolph Y is closer for me than Somerset, but I think I may join Somerset instead. Thanks for your excellent lap swim hours.
Variety of classes, clean facility, friendly staff
Excellent facilities, outstanding staff and wide variety of programs!
Attentive staff
Welcoming atmosphere
Clean facility

I only use the equipment in the gym - I like the variety offered. My only complaint is how many people sit on the equipment scrolling on their phone. The gym is always busy and it's very frustrating to see this happening constantly. I appreciate that there are some signs saying not to do this but they are far from prominent.
