All encompassing re: services and equipment
Many group fitness options with flexible timing.
Didn’t love running up and down stairs as feels not safe, not climate controlled, and not so clean. And we have to leave our personal belongings behind. Next time will put in a locker, didn’t expect to run all over the Y as part of class. A good workout though
cooling off in hot weather.
I enjoy the variety of group exercise classes, and the staff is helpful and attentive.
Staff. Equipment. Location. Facility
Park Street YMCA is wonderful! The staff is very friendly and helpful. The equipment is clean and functions well. Great gym for the family!
It’s clean, welcoming to everyone, with helpful staff, good equipment and classes, affordable, and well air-conditioned in hot weather.
The pools. I do not use the gym or attend class activities outside of the pool. Lifeguards are wonderful.
Variety of classes and times. Friendly atmosphere.
It offers many classes and many opportunities to stay active
Great water instructors. Pleasant greeters at the front desk
Aqua classes with Janet, Senior classes with Jacqueline, and any training with Chris Fetchik
The fact that they have not one but 2 pools; not a lot of the gyms in the area have pools, and a sauna. Also the staff are friendly and helpful. (If you use my name publicly the YMCA is authorized to use "Quan Last name removed": My government name that I pay my bills with is strictly prohibited; Thank you.)
Child watch is super helpful and many hours to choose from.
The full gym capability - pool, sauna, steam room, showers, classes, machines
Staff is super friendly
Classes, circuit equipment, and pool.
All instructors are very professional .All Saturdays my daughters have swimming class and I'm feeling happy and appreciate at YMCA MONTCLAIR, for the opportunity, now my daughters know swiin very good, thanks for all!!!
Love the YMCA!!
Open early and late, nice facilities.
I use the exercise and weight rooms. Do you ever do an inventory of equipment use? I think you need more stair-steppers— they are often in use (only 2) and other equipment sits empty.
A great community of family and friends. The location, condition of building site is excellent. Gyms and studio rooms nicely stocked and clean. Staff and instructors are exceptional. Friendly, competent eager to go the extra mile. Being a member definitely has improved my quality of life. Yoga instructors are wonderful, well trained, eager to share their knowledge and wisdom with others. While they are all wonderful, My favorites are Liz, Fran and Maggie. Although Maggie is gone, I truly miss her presence and all that she offered in her sessions. I would be great if she decided to return.
we love the YMCa and the convenience of it living in Montclair.
The staff is extraordinally wonderful!!!
Awesome, my daughter has become a great swimmer due to YMCA.
The classes are small and the instructor was well trained.
The teacher that my daughter has is wonderful. Ms Natalie!
Good quality for the price.
Love swimming at the big pool. I'm there every other day or so. My only constructive feedback is that I wish the lifeguards could help and be a little more hands on when people need to circle and don't want to.
Lessons were fun. I feel more confident about my baby being in the water and he seems very comfortable now.
Instructors are patient, friendly ..

Hi,
My family has had a good experience with Y swim lessons generally.
My 2 children, age 9 and 11, enjoyed private lessons with Wadley, Desiree, and Marvin, all of whom were very accommodating, as my son has some attentional issues. They were able to teach both children and the instructors kept the kids' attention with some different activities each week. We parents also had some suggestions, and these were incorporated.
My children also enjoyed and benefitted from the group swim lessons, and they improved significantly. The classes were well-managed and fun, and every child got personal attention. My children had to miss their most recent session because of injury from rock climbing, but we hope to resume. My daughter in particular enjoyed the lifeguarding lesson, and I found observing it to be helpful as a parent as well. In fact, a class for parents/caregivers would be excellent for those occasions when we are supervising our kids in a private pool or other location. Also, messaging in emails and/or in the Y regarding the importance & legal requirement to wear life jackets when boating (incl. kayaking & SUPing) would be a helpful reminder to families in the summer months.

I enjoy the group workout classes. I hope for more weekend classes. Many of my friends ask if the group classes can be paid for as one-time charges. It is also good to have the option for kids center while parents workout.
