Very good and nice
Southwest has so many fitness classes to choose from and great instructors. I’m glad that they take time to do a long enough cooldown and stretch for the cardio classes. The equipment is also kept updated, eg spinning bikes. I’m also glad there is equipment outside and some of the classes are outside. When I travel outside the Bay Area, I check the Y’s and was surprised at how few classes they have. I feel very fortunate that we have so many at our Y.
Keep team members updated on the schedule and plan of the future classes ahead of time.
Big space for pool and group classes.
The facilities, the staff, the people, the location.
Diversity of programs and skillful, smiling teachers are the things that attract me to my Southwest Y.
The nice possibility to be active as a whole family.
I like the workout equipment and I catch up on news while I'm riding the bikes in the gym. I'm happy to have a gym close to home. I'm happy to see so many other activities but don't participate much excpt for my workouts. Clean, kind, friendly, and I love the e-gym equipment.
The variety and the ability to adapt to lower impact or higher
Staff is great, especially Tavi, Sam and Shelley. Hope we can get rid of the campers on the machines - common courtesy. Glitz Dance and Sara are AWESOME...such joyful exercise!

Many classes to choose from
The app is so much better!!
It’s a great “me time” when there’s a kids’ club.
Especially when the staff there is amazing!
The ex-group room is great, the boot camp on Friday is wow
I only pariicipate in the Aqua Fitess classes. The two instructors Teresa and Kelly are excellent and we really get a great workout. I moved to Pleasanton but come back to the area every other week and join the classes on Monday and Tuesday. I was quite disappointed to learn there are no YMCA’s in the East Bay, other than Berkeley. 22. I miss the classes and the friends in the pool.
