Kid focused and making it fun for these kids. Financially affordable for everyone. You focus on what matters, youth. Politics are kept out of it.
Great coach and community. Some of the communication for game days could be a little clearer, field location, but loved everything about the season!
I like that my child gets to play with her classmates and other students their age from their school.
Friendly, not crazy competitive but generally coaches help my child improve over season.
Great job with indoor soccer - fun for all the kids.
Great organization and the basketball referees this past season were so darling and wonderful to our boys team!
I love the YMCA core values and the experience my kids have competing and bonding with their teams. We want our kids to learn and have fun and connect and the Y coaches all prioritize that. Playing well and winning games is fun, but the focus is on character and contribution and at this age, thats perfect.
Kids have fun and they are well organized.
Good community and welcoming group. Nice facilities, and pretty organized.
We loved volleyball! Our coach, Drew, was amazing. He was so supportive and encouraging of the team of kids who had never played. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming and my daughter always wanted to go. We would have played another season but it conflicted with her travel sport. We look forward to playing again soon though and would have loved if the season was a little longer or had one additional game/practice during the week.
The track coach is excellent! We appreciated his enthusiasm and knowledge.
Thank you.
Great emphasis on sportsmanship, respect for others and learning new things.
The ability for my young children to try a new to them sport for low risk. I like the automation of the sign up process and the weekly updates about games. It is well organized and I appreciate it as a busy mom!
The coaches are consistently outstanding. I don't know how they all seem to have so much patience working with children at different skill levels. We've done several seasons of soccer, volleyball, swim lessons and Ninja warrior. I also really appreciate the once-weekly practices for the team sports leagues. Any more than that and I wouldn't be able to balance the kids' activities with work and school. I'm very happy with all the programs.
The sports leagues are great but I think it would be helpful if each coach "graded" their team as "experienced" or "beginner". I think it could make the competition better for all. Those experienced teams would play against more equivalent teams and the newer teams would not suffer a huge loss if a grading system was introduced.
Fun learning experience for kids
Basketball
1 time a week for 1 hour and that it is low key for the kids. They have fun!
We love that the YMCA focuses on team, sportsmanship, and skill building rather than winning.
Well run, good people, the right values, lots of good energy in the office and on the sidelines. The further one advances in soccer, for instance, the more you see the negative energy. At the Y, it's still what soccer should be.
Programs were fun and easy going.
We loved the winter basketball league for our 6 year old. His father coached and it worked out well. Although, we wouldn't sign up if he had to have any of the other coaches we saw in our few weeks. The other coaches were awful. They weren't teaching their team anything. We wish the Y would have these leagues more often than just once a year. My son would have loved to sign up again.
Inclusiveness and relaxed feel.
We had a fantastic Coach! Encouraging & positive feedback to all the children. We're looking forward to next season!
The playing ground for basketball ball is perfect and safe. The playing ground for the soccer ball is unsafe for the kids.
Love Coach Jason and the track and xc programs. The Y and Coach Jason have worked very hard to establish these programs, which have helped hundreds of kids become more confident and active. We are very grateful for their hard work. -the Atchison family
Well organized.
Loved our basketball team and coach.
Family centered, encouraging kids to learn the sport, not about winning
