Customer Testimonials
My granddaughter has taken a break and is about to return to Mathnasium. She has expressed some concern that kids get yelled at when they do things wrong. She said she was counting with her fingers and got in trouble and that was disturbing to her. Obviously counting with her fingers is not right, but I think the way that it was corrected may have been a bit harsh for her level of sensitivity.
As a grandparent, I love the idea of Mathnasium and hope that she’s able to continue if she’s comfortable there. Thanks for asking.
Thank you for your valuable feedback. We appreciate it, & we’re glad your granddaughter is returning to Mathnasium as she starts 5th grade this fall, despite her comments. I assume you gave us a score of 9/10 because of “yelling about finger counting.” You personally didn’t witness that because at Mathnasium we simply never yell at any student under any circumstances. At our center, in over 5 years, only 1 instructor criticized 1 student once (& without yelling), & they got fired for it immediately. Finger counting is counting by 1, & therefore it’s a memorization skill, not a math skill, whether you do it with fingers, or tapping, or blinking… It’s a bad habit we want all students to get rid of from 1st grade. The only 2 things we want students to memorize in math is counting from 0 to 30 in kindergarten, & doubling nbrs between 0 & 12 in 1st grade. With those 2 math facts, humans can do any other math in the world, like doubling nbrs up to 100 within 5 seconds using mental math in 3rd grade, which would take forever using finger counting, or calculating a tip at restaurants within 10 seconds using mental math in 5th grade. Since Mathnasium is a 1-on-1 program that goes at the student’s pace (unlike schools), we can afford to avoid memorization, & we replace it with math strategies that last forever, instead of memorizing math facts that last until the next math test, then get forgotten without practicing boring repetition.
I'm already happy with both my kids catching up with school then becoming ahead of school thanks to Mathnasium, but Mathnasium of Eugene's FUN factor is really making a difference for my kids: my lazy son stopped dragging his feet to his sessions, and my shy daughter started asking for more sessions/week! The Stars reward system, the Student of the Month contest, the Friday math parties, the Ice Cream Bonanza motivator, the center's decoration and environment... Now I'm hearing my kids referring their friends to Mathnasium! I can only imagine how fun the summer math camp may be, but I'm glad my kids can at least do their math sessions online while we travel a lot this summer. I wish my kids' other activities were as flexible to schedule. Thank you Mathnasium of Eugene team!
It has been a great experience.
Kids are always eager to learn give them the best opportunity
You will not find a better place to take your child for math help and support!!
Mathnasium of Eugene has been around since 2020 right at the start of the pandemic and has successfully maneuvered the challenge and provided extremely valuable service to provide lessons to fill huge gaps that surfaced with suboptimal online classes. I can confidently say that since we saw that gain with our son, grade 8, now already doing grade 9 math, huge thanks to the dedicated instructors and management.
Our son learns very well in his classes and has a lot of fun as well since the instructors have a great way of interacting with school kids.
The in person center is a delightful place and has the perfect environment for learning, yet, with many fun math related games and fun!
Thus is his fifth year and he plans to continue!!
With my kids' schools' insufficient math homework, inconsistent assessments, inflated grades, rosy reports, and vague parent-teacher meetings, my kids found a healthier progress pace, and more attention, comfort, reliability, confidence, and passion for learning math from a very caring and patient team at Mathnasium of Eugene. With the education system being gutted and defunded after a disastrous pandemic that schools are still struggling to recover from, I'm grateful to Mathnasium for being the brightest light in the tunnel for my kids' path towards college. Thank you for inspiring me and my kids.
Great atmosphere that keeps kids loving learning math! My son is always excited to go.
Thank you Julia. It's important to have a fun learning environment for more individual productivity & faster pace. Some of our students ask us if they can attend more than 3 times/week, but that's the max to avoid a burnout effect after a year. We specialize in making kids fall in love with math, & we guarantee changing their negative attitude towards math within 2 months. Enjoy!
Great to have Mathnesium in our community!
My son was the student of the month last month, which gave him a mental boost right before he took his SAT test at the beginning of this month. This week, he was very pleased to find out that he scored among the top 25% students in the country (in both math & overall), making him a "competitive" candidate in college applications, despite starting Mathnasium 4 years ago as an 8th grader with the math level of a 4th grader. Last June, he ended 11th grade with an "A" grade in "Algebra 2". I'm proud of his progress. After graduation, he wants to pursue his studies in Computer Science & Film to improve his 3D special effects skills. Thank you Mathnasium! You truly saved my son!
my kids love it
Our kids have been at Mathnasium of Eugene of over 4 years now! You didn't just save them in math (turning Fs into As); their confidence seems to have spread to other school subjects as well. Our daughter wouldn't have pursued Architecture (her favorite subject) in college without your math help. You also gave us parents a peace of mind, knowing they're in good care, after seeing our kids become independent in doing their school homework, including in STEM subjects like physics, chemistry, and biology. We certainly don't miss the stress and drama at home when we used to try to help them with math homework. Mathnasium became like a 3rd parent in our household, and our kids feel like you're now part of our cool weekly family routines. You've certainly exceeded our high expectations! Thank you so much, team Mathnasium of Eugene.
Mo and the folks at Mathnasium in Eugene have been a God send. Our 11 year balked at math tutoring and didn’t want to spend summer doing math. After 1 month we hear no complaints from the 11 year old. She’s excited about the reward system they have set up and loves that she can have the in person or online options.
Mo and his team at Mathnasium have been really incredible. Our daughter has benefitted from the detailed assessment she was given, and we have learned so much from Mo about where she is on her math journey and what she needs to improve going forward. It is evident to us that Mo has a deep devotion to the students at Mathnasium, and has their best interests in mind. His staff are also very helpful and make math learning fun and interesting for our child. Overall, our time at Mathnasium as been extremely positive.
Mo is awesome. My daughter loves it. Scheduning is easy
Mo and the staff of Mathnasium Eugene have been wonderful. My daughter is no longer avoidant of math!
Mathnasium continues to help our child with his math as he continues middle school. It has helped close his math knowledge gap and move ahead, now doing a grade higher level.
This will continue to be an invaluable resource through high school!
keeps kids engaged and inspired!!
Sequoia enjoys the games and the interaction that continues to help her succeed . Mo is great and helps in every way . The tutors have been getting Sequoia back on track and making math fun again.
My son is in 11th grade. When he started Mathnasium 3 years ago, he wasn't just very behind & lacking confidence & hating math; he also didn't have math sense or critical thinking skills or even any interest in developing them. I didn't think Mathnasium had a chance trying to save my boy, but it's 2024 now, & not only he now gets A's in every math test, & not only he now likes it, he even just asked me if he can become a Mathnasium tutor one day! I couldn't believe my ears, & my eyes became a river of happiness that day. Thanks again, Mathnasium! You're not just #1 in America & Eugene. You're MY #1.
There is nothing else like Mathnasium out there. From the state of the art testing that each child is administered to the comprehensive learning plans and monthly progress reports there is no better option out there if your child has fallen behind or struggles in math.
Our son has been with Mathnasium since it first started 4 years ago. It has helped him consistently and there is no doubt in his and our minds that he will continue with this great tutoring!
The center feels busier with more students, and It seems that Mathnasium of Eugene constantly tries to improve its services for local schools like with Pi Day and Math Nights, and for my kids like with monthly awards and weekly math parties with tutors. It's a confirmation that the quality of tutoring is mastered among tutors.
Math is now fun and exciting for our little girl, not a source of stress and dismay.
kids are interested to learn all the time
The staff are pleasant and great with the kids. It’s worth the time, money, and effort to help your kids flourish at math. Mo is also very easy to work with when there are scheduling conflicts.
I love Mathnasium! I have been telling everyone how amazing you all are.
Emma received a TAG designation at school---but there is no TAG program in the district. We explored math tutors, found Mathnasium, and couldn't be more relieved/happier. She loves to go, is super excited about completing packages, gets plenty of individual attention from folks who really care. She especially loves the fun nights, like PI night and Math Jeopardy. Emma is our granddaughter and we are raising her; the new math is outside of our own experience. So satisfying to know she's getting the right amount of work at the right level, and that she feels challenged but not overwhelmed. Carol Juul
My son was getting Fs in math and helping him with his homework was stressful at home before he started Mathnasium in middle school. Now he's getting Bs in high school, and we have peace at home. He also loves your Fun Friday evening events, especially Chess Night, so I like to schedule his math sessions on Fridays 4:30pm so he can stay and have fun until 8pm... while I can enjoy a date night! Thank you Mathnasium of Eugene!

The program is great. There is no shame that he is 3 grades behind. My son missed so much school because of health issues and Covid that his school couldn’t “catch him up” like they said they could. Mathnasium is catching him up.
