I am highly likely
The gym is always clean and is accessible. The amount of machines and equipment allows everyone to be able to get a workout in without having to wait for someone else. I enjoy going in the mornings before work. The YMCA has helped me get my healthy lifestyle get back on track.
The staff, classes offered, clean new facility and the pool
The Y is always welcoming and a happy place to be at! The front desk and wellness staff is always on top of the game. Dan at the front desk always makes it a priority to make sure everyone knows they are seen and wanted at the Y. He also is a good person to get recommendations about which programs we should participate in!
The location of the YMCA is beautiful, workers are professional, and facility is pleasant to be in.
A lot of different options
The gym is clean and well-kept. I saw a someone fixing a broken machine, sometimes the cardio machines y can stay broken a little too long, but I assume that is an issue with getting parts and outside the gym's control. It was nice to see that the machines were being worked on.
Great facility and friendly staff. And the location is the best
Hi, I like the gym environment, friendly staff . The new zumba class at 5:45 was great, was just easing iinto the schedule when I heard it’s canceled next month. Would like the Tuesday evening zumba added back pls .
Still hands down one of the best gyms in pensacola.
Great variety of classes, equipment
Free weights, good equipment and clean facilities
The variety of classes/class times and childcare.
Great programs, but please EXPAND PICKLEBALL hours! We often have as many as 10-12 folks waiting to play on Tues/Thurs AMs. Or (maybe) expand to 3 courts vs current 2? Thank you!
Enjoy the open swim in the lap pool. Also, it’s nice to see friendly smiling faces at the front desk each morning.
I like how clean you keep it and how friendly everyone is.
Gym
I love the Y! Things were getting a bit run down for a while but I have seen significant improvement lately with new equipment and varied classes. They continue to provide materials for cleaning down equipment after use, which I greatly appreciate. It's a very family-oriented facility with a lovely staff.
This is a great YMCA and I have had a family membership since it opened.
I'm actually writing about a problem, though, which I hope you will address ... a problem which certainly must have been brought up before as it is blatantly obvious to anyone who uses the workout room there --- people blocking weight machines for long periods of time while they do multiple sets, often resting for fairly long periods between sets. I've seen people sit on a machine over 20 minutes, most of which is resting time between their sets. This is a real problem during peak gym use times, as many of the machines are blocked up like this. I do a circuit workout of 11-12 machines, plus 1-2 free weight exercises, plus inclined sit-ups ... doing one set of 8-10 reps on each and moving quickly to the next. I can do two of these circuits in an hour. And the order in which I do these doesn't matter to me. When numerous machines have squatters on them my workout can take 90 minutes. This may seem silly, but it does bother a lot of people and is quite frustrating! We could have a long conversation about this, but why don't you just do what some other gyms do --- put signs on the machines:
"Please do only 2 sets at a time on this machine in order to accommodate others."
Thank you for seriously considering this. Believe me, most will be happy about this. And it will avoid potential altercations like the one I had there recently during a really full gym time --- a guy got off the leg lift quad machine and starting lifting dumbbells nearby, so I got onto the machine and he told me that he was in the middle of sets on it. I said, "you're doing another exercise now and I'll just do one quick set." He was pretty upset about this, which ticked me off, so I loudly said, "you can't just hog the machine like that!"
The caregivers are kind and my daughter is safe during after school care and has made great friendships
Worth the price and very convenient. Activities for everyone! The after-school care program is has been so important to my daughter. She wants to stay the entire time most days. Mrs. Joyce is amazing with them!
Classes, time open, and equipment
The equipment, the classes, the instructors, the people employed by the Y. Everyone connected is a pleasure to be around!
I ONLY USED THE SMALL POOL, AND FOR THE LAST NUMBER OF MONTHS THE WATER TEMP HAS BEEN FINE, COULD BE WARMER WITH WINTER COMING ON???????
