We recently joined Mathnasium of Bristow. The kids originally spent roughly 3 years in Kumon. Both centers are very different in both structure and methodology. While kumon follows very structured/individual learning method, mathnasium explores logical learning methodology with the assistance of a tutor. With kumon you do not progress onto the next level until you have completely mastered the subject at hand and are able to complete any set of problems in a short turnaround time. Although this method ensures that you understand the subject well enough before proceeding ahead, it doesn’t explore logic, for example, word problems. Certain math problems can be solved with different formulas and mathnasium allows to explore those boundaries while kumon uses a single/set approach. This is not to say kumon is not a sufficient center but it lacks the 1:1 tutoring and exploration of different concepts especially when children are in need of 1:1 attention vs self taught.

The Bristow Mathnasium location is OUTSTANDING!! They have very polite and professional educators who you can easily tell LOVE what they do! They are caring and have a wonderful way of reaching your child to help them LEARN the concepts, in a manner which works best for them. The staff is very patient and accommodating, recognizing your child has several academic and non-academic commitments. I know my daughter has benefited greatly from their services. I HIGHLY recommend to any parent who has a child struggling, or if you want to ensure your child is truly LEARNING math concepts and not memorizing, to give Bristow Mathnasium a try. You will not be disappointed with your investment.

The owners are very nice and accommodating when it comes to scheduling. The tutors are nice and super helpful! They helped my daughter immensely with her math where her teachers couldn’t!

Our Daughter has always struggled with Math as a whole. We believe the close instruction she receives from Mathnasium is wonderful in helping her gain the knowledge she needs to improve at school. Which we believe is why her grades show this. She had a "D" the 1st quarter, then received a "F" the 2nd quarter. We had enrolled her after the 1st quarter grade and when we saw the 2 quarter grade we where concerned also. However her 3rd quarter grade was an "A+" and her final 4th quarter grade was also an "A". Which she ended up with a overall grade of a "B" for the year. This also means she didnt fail math and didnt have to attend summer school. The only reason for the score of "9" is sometimes we find it hard to schedule our Daughter in the evening. It seems those slots go fast and you have to be on top of your game to get a late slot.

My daughter loves that mathnasium makes learning mathematics fun

My daughter was struggling with 3rd and 4th grade math and has now found confidence in the subject she hated the most. We are very pleased with the strategies taught and the patient helpful staff.
