Not every young person starts at golf at the age of 5 and plays to a 5 handicap at age of 12. The scramble format allows a way for young people to learn the great game with out the pressure to play their own ball.
Be careful to put too much emphasis on the championship, it's learning the game that is important.
Just a great way for a facility to grow the game through really opening a junior program that will allow all to compete and allow each facility to "Tailor" their program to fit their needs. It allows us to invite members and non-members to participate. I cannot emphasize how many new memberships we have sold, how many juniors that become employees and how many juniors that go on to take their game to the next and the next level!
I like the fact my fellow PGA Professionals have teams and we play each other! The kids like the uniforms and the team format and my public golfers get to play some private clubs
I would only recommend it to a professional who is not that busy and needs to build their business. PGA Jr. league takes A LOT of time and the amount of money you make is not worth the time spent.
It is a great experience for all involved. The kids love it as well as the parents. It is fun for the PGA members also. A great program that can be tailored by the professional to the needs and wants of the parents and kids.

It has given us an opportunity to showcase our junior programs, our club as well as giving us an opportunity to affect the young people that go through to the next steps. Our world currently is giving kids media driven narratives of who they should be or who they really are inside which is so unhealthy for them and the future. Kids are begging for real structure, letting boys be boys and girls be girls. When they are in our program, they don't have to think about anything else except that they are safe, they are going to have fun and they get to play golf and learn life lessons of team, competition, community, rules and respect.
I believe the scramble format is an ideal way to introduce junior golfers to the game of golf. Less pressure, as their partner always has their back.
