More overnight camping! The big productions of music were fun, but we would come whether they were there or not. We would love to overnight camp earlier in the summer or early fall when the pool could be open all day.
Base Camp is a great experience for dipping your toes into camping, especially with young kids who have expressed an interest but without having to spend an arm and a leg on camping equipment for a hobby they may end up uninterested in. Having the variety of activities, food options, and live music makes for a really enjoyable experience.
The campout was magical! I brought my granddaughter (almost 4yo). The Y has beautiful grounds and facilities. We were very comfortable and felt safe. We did lots of the activities - crafts, listened to the music, played on the sport court and the playground, ate hot dogs and smores, glow stick hike, morning yoga. We made friends with another family.
1. Be more deliberate about meals and meal times; say explicitly if campers should bring their own dinner and breakfast or not. Classic hot dogs cooked on sticks were great fun. Smores were good but there was no chocolate left when we went through the line. Snacks were gone when we got there after the glow hike, bagels were gone when we got there after yoga. I would like to have some vegetables with the hot dogs and fruit with breakfast - try at least to incorporate more nutrition into the experience.
2. Crafts for younger kids (3-5yo) beyond a coloring page. Maybe a scavenger hunt?
3. I saw no dogs allowed, and actual dogs at the event. (I vote yes to dogs on a leash.)
Diversity of programs. Diversity of people. We had a great weekend!

Swimming every day, lots of outdoor activities, it's like overnight summer camp without the overnights. My kiddo especially loved fishing. Really appreciated the provided lunch even if my kids didn't always like it I don't have to make lunch every day and that's a win! The drop off and pick up times work for parents who work a full 8-5, M-F schedule (so many summer camps are only partial day or run from 9-4).

We like the positive, affirming attitude of the staff at the YMCA, where every child is supported and allowed to develop their own interests. We also appreciate the physical activity that kids enjoy at the Y, especially the swimming.
The programs were laid out very well and ensured the kids had a variety of activities to do. Staff and counselors are always very friendly. Shout out to Olivia Gross for always being very helpful.
The outdoor activities that they wouldn’t be able to do anywhere else, the pool time was huge for my daughter, and the time! It’s amazing to have a camp that has an option to drop off early
And pick up later without another large fee.
Great interactions and counselors. My son and niece were able to attend and they shared how they were able to make connections and each shared high points of their week at camp. Tori, Bri, and Silas were names mentioned by the kids that deserve a shout out. Thank you!!

Our kids have so much fun every Summer! Our youngest isn't an outside kid, but really loves going to H&K Summer camp. Olivia is amazing and really knows our kids.
My child loves camp at H&K!! She has gone for several years and it is always wonderful. Olivia and the counselors are wonderful!! Thank you for making incredible, lifelong memories for my girl!
Very nice property. Well maintained and staff is amazing. The scenery and location are also memorable. Great place for the camping event.
