Love the classes and child watch. The instructors are amazing and the child watch employees are so great with the kids
Love the diversity in group fit classes plus the youth programs are amazing!
Aquatics
1. Pickle ball demo / 101, can it be offered more frequently? I have hard time to find pickleball players, how can you help to partner players?
2. Offering the flying yoga as some other facilities of the states. Looking forward to seeing this happen soon in our downtown Y @ Chattanooga.
3. Feedback and evaluation of personal trainers, I was assigned and attended with one trainer, she didn’t conduct any follow through, and she promised to have a printout instruction but never delivered.
There's something for everyone.
Swimming and pickleball.
Everyone is open and welcoming.
Great staff, classes
Staff is ALWAYS friendly and helpful. Facilities always clean and working properly. Met or seen so many friends at the Y, it's a great place!
Lots of classes. Kind staff. Environment is good and positive.
Best YMCA I have ever been part of. The facilities and classes are the best. Every spinning class instructor is competent and caring. It is not just a workout facility; it is family focused.
Employees are very nice. The equipment works. The coffee is great. The members are very diverse. The hours are great. We need to build a new facility downtown with a 50 meter pool and really work on swimming education especially in the majority communities. It’s the best sports club I have ever seen. For the design of the new facility go visit the Y at at Macintire Oark in Charlottesville, VA. It was built recently and no use to redesign and pay an architect for some clueless design. Pick one that has a history.
Good fitness classes for all levels.
Love the Y! Debbie does an amazing job. Staff is so friendly and the gym and locker room are always clean.
The instructors for water fitness are excellent. Lifeguards are very alert and attentive. That is the only section of the facility ghat I use. I am always telling people that the water fitness instructors at the DT Y are much better than at the Hixson Y.
I would like to see a Bingo game night. More stair climbers...
Wide variety of class types and times, plenty of cardio equipment in good locations, tons of free weight locations
Women’s locker room is kept very clean by Tasha. She is friendly and helpful. Lap pool is also clean and most times a lane is open or can be shared.
Deep water aerobics is great exercise and fun at the same time! I now look forward to exercising instead of dreading it!
Good facilities
I like the friendly environment, the facilities, the racquetball courts availability, the ateam room, the zumba class, the bananas in the front desk, service from employees. I love everything.
Love all the classes and the variety available.
Great classes, kind staff!
Great hours and spaces. Always clean and kind staff
The pool
I play racquetball three times per week, and lift weights usually two or three days a week. I enjoy the camaraderie of my friends at the Y. I’ve lived in other cities, and I think this is the best Y (compared to Baton Rouge, Pittsburg, Baltimore, etc). However, there’s still room for a little improvement.
Recommendation 1: Court A has a missing panel over one of the six lights at the front of the court. We have to replay a few shots every game because a ball get deflected from the missing panel. A panel could be removed from one of the courts with equipment, and hopefully be an inexpensive solution. A small gesture would go a long way toward how the racquetball guys feel about the Y.
Recommendation 2: Our racquetball group (15+ guys) typically has 8+ guys show up each time we play, so we always have to play doubles. All of us would like to have a third court to play singles too. It’s a long shot, but I believe you should ask anyway. My group plays at lunch, and there’s a night group that plays from 5 to closing. They have the same issues (Shayne Champion usually provides feedback for them).
There’s a general feeling that the Y wants the racquetball court space for other things. and racquetball players are not considered ‘prime’ customers. I hope that’s not the case, because we love playing and our group continues to grow. I think these guys should be featured in the next TV commercial for the Y. The ages are from 25 - 68, and all decades in between. And the 25 and 68 year-olds are both professional actors!
Thanks,

Water fitness
Variety of classes
I use the lap pool the most. I also like the options of the classes. I hope you hire more lifeguards soon.
I’ve always liked the Y. Have went there many years with a few missed years in there.
From the days of high impact aerobics in a full gymnasium until today on the treadmill for me.
Always enjoyed the group classes and may try to get back in one of those.

Great weight floor. More squat racks pls
